is it the real OEM SPEED3 CV Axles ?

I haven’t rebuilt or serviced CV axles and I’m not sure how much wear is acceptable. Could you get a replacement race, cage, and balls for it? Not sure how much help this will be, but I have serviced hub bearings on bicycles a bunch of times and what I see in your photo would officially not be...

is it the real OEM SPEED3 CV Axles ?

The shorter one looks like an OEM axle but I’m thinking the other one may not be.

    2008 Speed 3 Rebuild Questions

You definitely don’t need to remove the crank to get the pistons out. I’m having a bit of trouble remembering how much the balance shaft obscures the rod bolts, but you may need to remove it. I suppose it’s possible you could finagle a wrench to get to the rod bolts which are obscured by the BS...

    2008 Speed 3 Rebuild Questions

I think the cost will vary based on your approach. You can take the ‘do everything in the best way’ approach and spend more, or you could do a ‘good enough’ job (which I personally I think can be fine). If I wanted to do it for minimal cost I wouldn’t bother even taking the block out—I’d just...

    P0193 and stuttering

Yes. Maybe an unnecessary question, but did you remove it and clean the side which makes contact? And also the plate which it contacts?

Can normal Mazda6 rear bumper and trunk fit MPS

You wouldn’t necessarily know it didn’t come with the car unless you knew what the correct MS6 bumper cover looks like. The edges line up perfectly.

Can normal Mazda6 rear bumper and trunk fit MPS

I had a regular Mazda 6 rear bumper cover on my MS6. It was basically the same in terms of attach points. I got a proper MS6 one a while back. I’m guessing the trunk itself is similar enough but I wouldn’t know for sure.

    P0193 and stuttering

I had something very similar here: https://mazdaspeeds.org/index.php?threads/p0193-and-replacing-fuel-pressure-sensor.12668/ I had replaced the fuel pressure sensor, but the issue turned out to be the ground near the HPFP. I cleaned the plate and connector up a lot (some sanding) along with...

    Maxpeeding coilovers?

That’s funny :) Mine auto-mutes so I didn’t notice. Seller is asking $150 and claims they are new. I just didn’t want to waste my time if they’re terrible and make my MS6 handle poorly, even if I’m just using them temporarily.

    Maxpeeding coilovers?

Does anyone have any thoughts about the Maxpeeding coilovers? https://www.maxpeedingrods.com/product/for-mazda-6-2003-2007-adjustable-height-coilovers.html I may be able to get them cheap and I was wondering if it’s a reasonable option to get my MS6 up higher until I’m able to afford new OEM...

Crank bolt on mazdaspeed 3 2007

Ever since I got the Bauer corded impact wrench (Harbor Freight) I always recommend it. It’s relatively cheap ($80) and powerful—powerful enough to turn the crank pulley bolt the full 90° in the last step of tightening (that alone made it worth the purchase for me!). I wouldn’t know how...

Fuel leak and looking for guidance!

Just to say, I’ve used the GB seals (complete) and have had no issues. I used them when I replaced the head gasket for about 5 months (although I wasn’t driving the car regularly due to other issues), and when I rebuilt the engine early last year I used them again and so far I haven’t had any...

Fuel leak and looking for guidance!

As for the fuel leak, the fuel pressure sensor is in that area. Maybe it might be worth it to have a careful look and if it’s the source of the leak then maybe try and snug it up a bit—though you don’t want to mess with it unless it’s definitely leaking. If it were my engine and that Allen plug...

Engine blown, rebuild or buy used engine?

Seconded. Prior to building my motor the most complex thing I had done was replace the head gasket and that was intimidating to me. Prior to that, replacing the timing belt on my former 2003 Hyundai Elantra was the most I had done (which was relatively easy :) ). People here are very helpful...

Engine blown, rebuild or buy used engine?

Did you inquire with JDM? They say they do nationwide delivery. I just saw JDM’s typical Craigslist post in my area—$1999 for a Speed 3 engine with less than 55k (on their website it says $2500).

Engine blown, rebuild or buy used engine?

I saw an engine on Facebook Marketplace in Aurora (near Denver) for $700. My feeling is that they’d likely come down from that. It says it has low compression. If you’re interested in rebuilding that might be a good candidate.

    Rebuilding advice?

I know the feeling and I’d like to encourage you. I asked a lot of newb questions on this forum and people were generally very helpful. I also chatted with Joe at ECAM, and my brother in law who has rebuilt a number of engines—their advice to my concerns was often, ‘don’t worry about it’ :)...

    Rebuilding advice?

I use two machine shops. If you’re wanting quality machining I’d recommended L&M Engines in Hatboro, PA. They seem like an overall good shop. https://lmengines.com/ I also use ECAM in Glenside because he’s closer to me. He’s a nice guy and has done me some favours, though honestly his machining...

    Ticking sound?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. I wanted to take off the heat shield to get better access to the exhaust manifold which means I’ll want to take off the intercooler (and also extract one of the heat shield bolts where the head broke off). But I’ve also been wanting to wait on the...

    Ticking sound?

This morning I listened while the car was warming up and can say the engine being cold or hot doesn’t seem to make a difference.
