It's not really a build thread if it's already built, but here we go

Yep, they haven't even pulled the wire yet. Waiting on the city for an inspection before the power company will run it.

It's not really a build thread if it's already built, but here we go

I've been waiting on these sphericals for about a month, seems that everyone was sold out of this size. These are FK brand, 9/16" extra wide, stainless, with teflon race. Should last for a couple years in this environment. 3 of the 4 are a very light press fit, and one was a slip fit because...

    Rod knock

Do you get any vibration or tapping in the clutch pedal if you press on it lightly? You might be able to do a piston height check - compare 1 & 4's height to each other, the compare 2 & 3's height to each other.

    New Speed6 Owner

Ordering straight from Russia is really difficult now. @Atoms4Piece recently sourced them from a supplier state side, though. He can probably shed some light on it. They're a great alternative to stock. The front LCA's have integral ball joints, so I recommend just replacing those arms...

Crank position sensor not lining up with 20 tooth on mazda 6

Did you lock the crank pulley in place while tightening everything down? How far off are we talking - take a pic!

    Mazdaspeed6 front axle - Duralast 11245N

We finished out the season on these without any issues. I'd guess we put a couple hundred runs on them throughout the season between all the drivers and events.

    Custom Shift Cable

Like most things, nothing is simple. There was only 1 option for 57" cables when I bought them (none for 57.5"), and the ends are not like the ones shown earlier in the thread - my mistake, I overlooked it. The 40-057-GV-GV-3 part I bought has grooved ends instead of the threaded bulkhead...

    Diagnosing Drivetrain Whirring

LOL that's awful. I think I would drain the PTO first, that's the most likely place. If you get it up on 4 stands, you could probably drive it in the air and see if that helps you locate it, and let's you know if you have rear drive or not.

It's not really a build thread if it's already built, but here we go

This build has been ongoing since I bought the car in 2013. I won't rehash everything that's been done to it, but if you want some info, just ask. I've built this car for SCCA's Street Prepared category in the sport of Solo (aka autocross). We have been very competitive over the years, and...

    Diagnosing Drivetrain Whirring

Do you have any video of it with good sound? If the trans is shifting OK, I doubt that's the source. A couple things to help diag: 1) Front or rear - It might be easier to hear diff whine if you fold the back seats down. That made it super obvious when my rear diff died. Link to video 2)...

    Custom Shift Cable

I had one cable start to get REALLY bad a couple weeks ago and the car is nearly impossible to put in reverse. After reading through this thread, I've ordered 57" cables from MidWest control of the Armor (standard) core type with stainless rod ends. $220 shipped, and I'll whip up a bracket...

Wanting to raise the stock suspension 1-2”

I see a couple different ways you could do it - Add a spacer under/over the spring in the strut assembly. This increases the preload on the spring, and might hurt ride comfort a bit. Add a spacer on top of the strut assembly. No change in spring preload, but you would need longer studs to...

    Atom's Speed6

I'd just grab a CX7 transfer case and never look back. Swap the input shaft and seals, bolt it on.

    More Suck, Less Starve

Unexpected addition to the car because of this work: high output alternator. We are pulling a LOT of power at idle with the multiple pumps and radiator fans running near constantly. The car was charging at ~13.6V and I think we were maxing out the stock alternator and burned it up...same for...

    Atom's Speed6

I don't think it'll make the ride suck, it will just be an understeering turd at the limit lol.

    Atom's Speed6

The racingbeat FSB is ridiculously stiff. It takes a ton of rear stiffness to balance it out and the whiteline rear bar doesn't come close to accomplishing that. If you ever think you'll autocross/track the car, you might want to consider the Steeda bar for the Ford Fusion. If not, you'll...

How's the bearing feel? If it's overcoming the friction of the housing, it seems like you have another problem.
