  1. Taking a journey through pain and a misfortune. A speed6 saga.

While the Protege project was under way, "Princess" came out to play. This is my autocross/track focused Mazda 323. It was originally built by my friend who passed away in 2018. Yep, the same friend who owned the Protege. Him and I spent a number of years building our cars and racing together...
  2. Lean at idle STFT locked at 24+ with no AFR change

This is a common trend with tuning. If you're tuner isn't telling you there's a problem.. Keep following what they are asking you to do. Some times is takes a few revisions to get things into a decent place. Unless your tuner is telling there is something wrong that needs to be diagnosed, sit...
  3. Taking a journey through pain and a misfortune. A speed6 saga.

It's that time of year again where the summer fun has come and gone. I've got time to brows the forums, sit back relax a bit and prep for next years adventures. I haven't spent much time with my Speed 6 in the last 6 - 7 months. My son was hit while driving his Mx3 we rebuilt. No one was hurt...
  4. Building for the road course...again

They don't make a coilover for a 323/ Mazda BG platform. I am at that point I need to have someone go over my setup and better spec out a setup. The Ksports I have aren't offered anymore and whats out there is bottom the barrel cheap for the general enthusiast... It's time I start saving for...
  5. Atom's Speed6

It was, but worth it. Looks OEM.
  6. Atom's Speed6

I just used a drill bit that matched the diameter of the circles.. Drilled out the holes and used a file to smooth it out. Worked like a charm.
  7. Building for the road course...again

That's awesome. Whats the hook up? I wonder if they'd do something custom for my 323.
  8. brandonf speed6 bt build

Man that damage from Walmart. Hopefully they are paying for repairs. Very cool looking build.
  9. 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 bogging at boost

I've seen them wedged/stuck and full of shit..
  10. Building for the road course...again

Once again us Canadians get screwed on good products. I've been using Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner, but I've got some really stubborn brake dust that's not coming off.
  11. Troubleshooting codes - p0171 - p0420 - p0101

MAF, MAP, Long term and Short term fuel trims, RPM, Accel peddle, desired and actual eq, throw in rear O2 Voltage. With your log make sure it's got some good idle spots, light, medium throttle driving and a couple of full throttle pulls. Once thing I noticed from these logs is the lower absolute...
  12. Building for the road course...again

Whats your go to for cleaning the brake dust?
  13. Building for the road course...again

The old rears vs newer fronts, with a slight stagger makes sense. I didn't want to assume the condition of the fronts.
  14. Building for the road course...again

How old were the fronts compared to the rears? It might be sign that you need to look at some ways to get more rear grip. New sticky competition spec tires might be masking a setup flaw. Maybe toe changes due to the extra grip and how much more the chassis rolls over, is making the car more...
  15. Building for the road course...again

It's interesting to see them letting loose mid to late corner. When the car pretty settled in the corner.
  16. Building for the road course...again

Weeeeee!!!!! little bit of poop... haha!! Props on your driving to keep it under control . I had a couple of those moments running on 10 year old BFG Rivals this year until they got some heat in them.
  17. 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 bogging at boost

Waste gate is sticking causing the turbo to do all kinds of funky stuff based on the fact it's just sat and the problem happened.. Otherwise you need to log is and look at fuel trims, O2 sensor operation. you validate the front O2 based on the rears reading when warmed up. Cause it could be the...
  18. Building for the road course...again

Thankfully Autocross doesn't require a cage. Eric's build is next level. My goal for this winter is to map out my suspension the way he has and start optimizing it. I am a better setup, tuning guy than I am driver. The 323 runs some interesting choices most people wouldn't expect when it comes...
  19. Building for the road course...again

Those Golden era hondas are closer to 2100lbs - 2000lbs when done right for autocross classes. I want to build one. Just gotta sell 20 years worth of Mazda Protege, 323 GTX, Mx3 parts.. The 323 is a pig at 2260lbs without driver. This was my hay day 323. It was 2100lbs with a 2.5L V6. You'd...
  20. Building for the road course...again

It was definitely a long read going through it all, but well worth it. I am a fellow Canadian, so I share your pain in the cost of building a car. Just like you, if I drove an hour across the border I could do things for half the cost, until all the stupid tax, duties and exchange rate kick...
