Car sat for a long time. Crank, No Start...

I've heard both sides of that argument also Awa. I still feel a properly soldered connection is superior.

Car sat for a long time. Crank, No Start...

As far as underhood wire repair of critical wiring you can never go wrong with a properly soldered connection. Get some high quality waterproof heat shrink tubing to go over your repair and you are good. All my connections are done this way for my oil temp, oil pressure and Ethanol content...

Car sat for a long time. Crank, No Start...

I just use it via ELM Bluetooth adapter on my android phone. I think I messed with it on my laptop with the cable a few years ago before I was tuned and returned the cable. I've never paid anything to use it from what I recall or maybe I did once but I've never had to pay anything since if I...

Car sat for a long time. Crank, No Start...

FORSCAN will give you a lot of detailed data on PIDs for Ford/Mazda. It will also give you snapshot data for any events that triggered DTCs and let you run certain diagnostic functions. I've used it to troubleshoot or look at more detailed info than the AP will provide...

    The build begins

In all fairness Awa he asked if the stock EM would damage the engine. I don't see where he said he didn't want one? I do agree with you though if you are going to put all this work into a motor/turbo setup you really should do both IM and EM.

    The build begins

OP there's a video in that series specifically about turbo selection. Will talks about all the popular bolt on turbos for the Speed and the HP they are capable of as well as spool characteristics. All the videos are worth watching, they will answer some of your questions and give you a better...

    The build begins

As Awa mentioned you need to have some goals in mind with turbo selection and HP goals/ intended use. Cars that run big turbos behave differently than cars with smaller frame turbos. The guys making north of 600 whp def have a different experience than turbos that spool faster. That is unless...

    The build begins

When you go built motor there are a lot more variables introduced than when OEM builds the motor. Built motors have a higher instance of failure than OEM as a general rule. You are putting a lot of faith in your machine shop and whoever assembles the motor to do things correctly. The actual...

    The build begins

Well mine was still my DD at the time and I always thought I would move into something "faster" when the Speed was done. The used car market was completely fucked a couple years ago. I was looking at paying insane "market adjustments" on anything I would have been interested in. Everything I...

Want an intake manifold but need EGR for CA smog

337, this was one of the reasons I decided to go with an aluminum intake manifold. I considered the ST but as you mentioned the temps from the EGR gasses would be a problem. I considered something that would drop the EGR gas temps enough to make them tolerable for the ST manifold but decided...

Want an intake manifold but need EGR for CA smog

Are you still trying to figure out a way plumb an EGR with a ST manifold? I've talked to my tuner about this and seen other information on just splicing into the PCV port on the Manifold. Obviously you'll need to build a custom EGR tube for this and use something like a brass T fitting.

    Carbon fiber fenders?

Depends what you are after I guess. I wouldn't call it crazy just more cost effective. I'd say most of the OG group around here that's from MSF are more geared towards performance than asthetics. I'd rather spend a couple grand on more HP, suspension, brakes than fenders but that's just me. I...

    2.3L MazdaSpeed3 Head Stud Specs

You could also order some studs that you "think will work" and return them if they don't measure as expected. I've done that a time or two with various projects. I mean if you guys over there are trying to run 350 HP through a D-Series Honda motor I can't see ordering something to see if it...

What did you do to your ride today

I feel everyone's pain in here something so simple but the lack of attention to detail makes a HUGE difference. I found a shop near me that has a touch less machine so that's who I use since I had my wheel powder coated. I don't trust the 19 year old goons at Discount!

    Hi, have you met Lilith?

I've also ran across the broken plug situation and it was when the Speed was still my DD. o_O I always have a spare set in the tool box now.

Penguin Mobile: "Jesus Built my Hotrod"

I had to revert my Bluetooth version the last two phones I've had to get it to connect to the Mazda. I have Pixel phones and was able to do that through developer settings.
