    How much does engine weigh?

I don''t think you can buy an engine stand that isn't capable of supporting these 4 cylinder engines. The ratings may be important for some of the bigger engines out there. I typically just use my foot as a chock to keep the stand from rolling around when I am torqueing some of the fasteners.

    Balance shaft reinstall

Just follow the FSM if you want to install. If you leave it off, don't forget to get an BSD delete kit to block off the oil passage.

    Balance shaft reinstall

The purpose of the balance shaft is to remove subtle vibrations/imbalances. I re-installed it when I put my engine back together. My thinking is that since its the original balance shaft mounting to the original block surface, you won't need re-shimming. This is a risk I took as the manual...

Results with PCV set ups on OEM turbo

Thanks for the reply. Damond motorsports blow-by article has some good content and have seen recommendations for catch cans on there, even with the stock turbo. All other advice was a wash How would one go about diagnosing this concern? Could there be clogging in the PCV channels inside the...

Results with PCV set ups on OEM turbo

It seems like there are a lot of opinions on what is sufficient for a PCV system, and a lot of people based that on what has worked for them. Blowing oil through my dip stick is a great way to rust proof my engine bay, but I am sick of lubricating my accessory belt... So I would like to hear...

    Ring gaps, keying and bearings

Is this in reference to the main studs? Are you saying that the torque specification provided by ARP is insufficient for the mains on this car?

    what part is this?!

You would have to ask the designer that question. That being said, manufacturers don't add parts for no reason. They may add it for regulatory purposes or for durability that is usually overcompensated with the Japanese, among other reasons. I leave it on my car because I don't know what its...

    Ring gaps, keying and bearings

First off I would like to say that engine failures we hear about on these platforms are typically diagnosed by "Amateur enthusiasts". This means that there is normally a lack of professional root cause analysis. This is why you hear some people make big numbers and run, while others have engine...

    Excessive Crankcase Pressures

The PCV systems in these cars are not very good. If you haven't replaced your PCV valve, that should be top priority for you. Following that install OCC. it will only help your system breath. Damond has proven to me that they did their research, I would follow their directions.

    Easy cylinder head cleaning?

The screw type valve removal tools that you can buy in harbour freight work well. The spring/latching style do not work with these cylinder heads. If $92 is pushing your budget, you may need to reconsider this project as there will be unexpected expenses along the way that may cost more. You...

    [SOLVED] Possible Fuel Pressure Problem

I find the service manual diagnostics to describe general failures, I don't remember the last time those procedures solved a problem for me. Going by the information you shared about the damaged wires, there may have been other damaged you aren't seeing, and that is concerning. I have seen...

    Easy cylinder head cleaning?

All we can do is give you advice and share experience with you. It is up to you to figure out how invested you want to be. If you don't want to get them machined, then at least pull and clean them.

    Easy cylinder head cleaning?

IF the cylinder head is off the car, I would remove the valves and properly clean them with a SOFT wire wheel. This is a far more efficient and complete job than using chemicals. You will need a valve spring compressor to get this done though. Valve adjustment only needs to be done if the...

    Cheep oil pump

Why are you looking for more pressure? How much more are we talking Ford vs. Mazda pump? I haven't heard of oiling issues with the OEM Mazda pump, so is it worth the risk incase this pump is incompatible? I have purchased Ford parts for my mazda, and I have purchased Mazda parts that come in a...

    Help diagnosing negative fuel trims/ P2178 / P2188 Rich off/at idle codes

If there is excessive gas in the oil, the most likely cause on these cars is the PCV system is struggling to evacuate the gas vapors OR there is an excessive amount of gas getting in the oil.

    Ms3 fuel cut/aftermarket turbo surprise

If the controller is not hooked up correctly, it will not function correctly. Don't confuse wastegate control with bypass valves, they control different modes of operation. The BPV releases the pressure once you let off the throttle to allow the pressure to escape. The WG controls your boost...

Misfire code p0303 while under boost

Take note of the tip of every plug you pull, does cylinder 3 plug look different than the others? If possible get a picture. If you moved your coils and plugs around and the missfire remained in the same cylinder, then the most probable candidates are an injector, injector seals or compression...

    Intermittent P2178 P2188

So the tune was done with a MAF o-ring that was torn? How damaged was the oring? Your fuel trims (for both idle and cruising) are showing that there is a lot of fuel being pulled from the system, which would be an appropriate reaction to tuning with a vacuum leak and then sealing it after the...
