  1. "Princess" A Mazda 323 like no other.

I've got videos. Looking back at them, man I left so much time on the table. I do a lot of coaching locally, it's time for me to go back to school and learn how to drive again. lol.. If you watch the video and have feed back, I'd love to hear it. I can see a few things going on with it...
  2. "Princess" A Mazda 323 like no other.

Packwood went off without a hitch. XB was the biggest class of the event with 25 drivers. I knew I was bringing a spoon to a gun fight so expectations were low when it comes to what place we'd finish. My hope was mid pack. A friend of mine came up from Vancouver Washington to co-drive with me...
  3. Building for the road course...again

Being 0.111 off the stupid quick Golf R sounds like a win to me. How does the car feel with the last round of tweaks?
  4. "Princess" A Mazda 323 like no other.

I've been busy with other little projects which means Princess hasn't gotten much attention. Local autocross event's aren't fast enough to give me a good idea how the suspension changes handle at the higher speeds I'll see in Packwood. So I don't know what changes I'll need to make. Something...
  5. KW v3 spring swap

Subbing for the nerd talk... I don't have any info that directly relates to this platform. I do have many years of experience with autocross and suspension setup on different platforms. My general input Generally speaking you want a looser rear end for better turn in. Spring rates good for...
  6. Oil preference

The diag sounds a bit quick and dirty, maybe missing all of the tests one would do to confirm things. With the smoking were you loosing coolant? Or oil? rarely does a motor need a full rebuild cause of a head gasket issue that's been caught early enough. Which is what it sounds like in your...
  7. Diag Help

P0113, P0102, P0103.. These codes suggest either an air leak causing the MAF to read wrong, MAF sensor problem it's self, Wiring or ECU issue.. P2187. SHRTFT1 (%) is 26.6 and LONGFT1 (%) is 20.3 It this is at idle, but gets better under load Its a Vacuum leak. Otherwise it's a sign that there's...
  8. Leaking through Crank Pulley alignment bolt hole

Proper repair.. Replace the timing cover.. Back yard repair... clean up and JB weld and hate yourself later on when you need to do something about the crank pulley and timing.
  9. How to change intermediate shaft/axle bearing Gen1 Mazdaspeed3

Green or red lock tight can be used instead of the previously mentioned product
  10. How to change intermediate shaft/axle bearing Gen1 Mazdaspeed3

I would have bought a good used intermediate shaft. Since you are going to reuse the old one, take a sharp center punch and peen the inside of the intermediate shaft hole along with the product that was mentioned earlier in this thread. This will give you the best chance at keeping the bearing...
  11. How to change intermediate shaft/axle bearing Gen1 Mazdaspeed3

Generally the CV joint side by the hub doesn't move in and out much. The axles moves in and out on transmission tirpod joint. I won't say it's bad, but it's not great. If it was my car, I'd pull the axle out cut the boot off clean out all the grease and inspect whats worn before tossing a new...
  12. How to change intermediate shaft/axle bearing Gen1 Mazdaspeed3

How much have you lowered the car? Got a picture of the drive shaft angles at ride height? Stock mounts?
  13. How to change intermediate shaft/axle bearing Gen1 Mazdaspeed3

Are you turning or driving straight in your video? Does the sound change depending on what gear it's in? I am assuming it's the knock knock knock sound and not the whining sound you are chasing. Also this would be good in a separate thread.
  14. Building for the road course...again

I was curious to see if there was a difference in wear between the old setup and the new setup. Since you've run on the same tires back to back there's nothing to see in wear differences. All though it was a good comparison with lap times. Rotating the tires left to right still gives you good...
  15. Misfiring during cold start / idle and stuttering when revving at times

Try doing a cold leak down test. It's possible a valve isn't sealing and it gets better warmed up.. Or maybe an injector has gotten gummed up while sitting/during the swap...
  16. Building for the road course...again

It sounds like you were getting more weight transfer on the front with the sagged out front springs. There's no data to see in the front tires since they have been on both setups.. We can't see any differences.
  17. Misfiring during cold start / idle and stuttering when revving at times

To rule out tune issues I'd put all of your Spark, APP, VVT, and DBW maps back to stock..
  18. Building for the road course...again

A thought... If you went softer with the front spring, could you go with a stiffer front bar to combat the body roll? This would let you get more weight transfer on to the front. How does the tire wear look? Can you play with camber.
  19. Misfiring during cold start / idle and stuttering when revving at times

Double check Non of your timing has slipped, on the washers. It sounds more like a timing issue popping out the exhaust then a typical spark or coil miss fire. Something might have slipped when you were swapping between cars. Also do you have the tune you can post? The log isn't long enough to...
  20. "Princess" A Mazda 323 like no other.

Huston we have a problem. Wellllll ok I wish I was still ignorant to this problem.. Lets back up a little bit. I left things off with tearing apart the car, installing a Racecapture Pro 3 data logging system while I was waiting on some new 225/45R15 Vitour P1 X-01Rs. Well the Vitours fell...
