Corksport DP + catless exhaust is too loud?

Thanks! After finally getting to go on a longer drive I realized what I was hearing was chassis resonance. When I replaced the motor mounts a few months ago I looked at the torque strut mount and thought it looked good so I didn't replace it. Turns out it was a JBR mount and it was transmitting...

Corksport DP + catless exhaust is too loud?

My MS6 is finally road worthy and I borderline hate the exhaust it has. It's a Corksport catless, resonatorless turbo back setup and it sounds good, but damn it's ridiculously loud and bassy. Is that normal? I've considered adding a resonator, but don't know if it would help.

U0100 & lean at idle + can't figure out boost leak test

My understanding is that some air may enter the valve cover due to open valves. Mine did it too. When I blocked the VC vent port I found leakage through the VC gasket. The second pic is of the VVT solenoid and I think some slight leaking there is expected. I also couldn't get my system to hold...

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

Nope, just blown off. Maybe now that there's some actual pressure my tiny zip tie retainer couldn't hold it.

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

Problem solved! I wish I could say which thing fixed it, but results are good. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, but while I was taking another look at the in tank pump housing I found that there is another fuel filter inside the pump housing. It seems to be a media filter that's in the...

That's what I'm thinking. And I learned the hard way that oem pumps are the only option.

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

Data Logs I didn't check what was being logged (idiot) so the only relevant thing is Fuel Pressure Since I had to mess with the AP Manager, I looked at the map notes for the Cobb OTS Tunes and the boost target for the map I'm using is 16 psi. AP showed 18.94 psi. I keep getting a P0103 of...

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

Same here. I bypassed the resistor to eliminate it as a fault. This car sat for several years undriven. I haven't found any rat nests or corrosion but I gotta be missing something. Thanks for the help!

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

When I got the car it had a dw65c that I replaced thinking it was failing, but the problem is still there, why I'm thinking it's a pump related electrical fault. I don't know much about the regulator but it's an easy enough job to replace. I'm just sick of dead ends.

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

It does, but only after about 40 minutes of driving. The pattern is similar to what happens at idle. The pressure looks good, but it will start to dip lower and lower over several minutes. I'll start seeing 400s, 300s, 200s, down to 40 for the low pressure reading. It runs worse relative to the...

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

It doesn't happen like that. The reading will be in the 600's at idle, then it will dip into the 500's, then stay in the 500's, dip to 400's then stay there and continue that pattern until it drops to around 200 psi and then stall. That decline takes about 3 minutes. After that, KOEO reads 36-44...

I'll do a data log today. Thanks

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

Update time. I'm giving up and I'm going to take this pos to a shop. I've thrown all the parts at it and no joy. I replaced the HPFP, fuel pressure sensor, had the injectors tested and cleaned, replaced the pcv valve, and only kinda cleaned the valves as they were in decent shape. It's still...

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

I read that tread and I think there was no follow up. I used compressed air to check it and it sealed. After looking at it I agree with Enki that it would be super unlikely to fail. So I got it back together and no love. It took much cranking to start and initially idled fine with occasional...

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

Yeah, I recently discovered Naptha vm&p, which I used to remove the nasty blue paint from the wheels, in a thread about cleaning the pump. I've also used it to soak clogged lawn mower carbs. Unfortunately I had to resort to what I had on hand due to my toddler's surprise sick day.

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

Got it. I was careful with the orings as they're avoidable and maybe I'm wrong but I guessed that Techron is fairly similar to Redline s1 and I had it on hand. Thanks for the priming with cleaner advice. I hadn't really thought about that part at all!

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

I'm pretty sure it is. Maybe worth a look though. After the spill valve cleaning I was seeing better pressure from it. I removed and cleaned the HPFP this morning and cleaned it. I found some bits of debris, not sure what but (maybe scrapings from the o rings that had been replaced) in the...

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

It occurs at any fuel level. I agree that a check valve failure is unlikely, or maybe just more often resolved by HPFP replacements. Either way probably rare. I'm not exactly planning on removing it, just submerging it in a solvent for a day. Thanks!

Help with fuel pressure weirdness and theory

FWIW I've also checked the wiring at the fuse block and didn't find any corrosion or insulation damage. I swapped relays around with no change. My theory involving the check valves in the HPFP are based on my experience with pressure washer triplex pumps. They are quite similar. The pump shaft...
