Dropped the modified gen 2 sensor in and all is well so far. Its reading just over half a tank with the current in tank fuel level. I won't know more until I go to fill up.
Interesting for you gen 1 guys though. This confirms the gen 1 sensor is not affected by ethanol such as the gen 2...
Whatever method he does to counter the effects from ethanol has worked on his Neon SRT-4 for 8 years now, as stated by him. Mine should be a good test for him, as my car sits for months at a time lol
I have been in talks with this gentleman and helping him with different resistance level readouts. I sent him a brand spanking new gen 2 sensor straight from Tasca to modify for me. He is going to start offering them for $150 with a 6 month warranty. I'll post some photos and report back once I...
I take it back. The gen 1 level sensor reporting level is off considerably. Today i clocked a level of 75% and was able to still add close to 7gals of fuel. I'm unsure if the one i received used already had a problem or not.
I was in talks with this gentleman a few months back about this. Before i got my hands on a gen 1 level sensor, i was about to send him 3 failed gen 2 units to tinker with. The gen 1 sensor fixed my issue so i never pursued. However, being the gen 1 sensors are discontinued- they will only get...
It was definitely a pain the ass to hit that extra 90 degrees. I used a right angle and marked both the crank pulley and bolt with a paint pen. I'm about 175lbs of pure fat which wasn't enough. I called over my 45lb 4 year old son at the time and he helped give me the necessary leverage to match...
Build is still running strong at just about 10k miles now. My eco boost crank is not keyed. I do spin the engine slightly above 8k rpm at 604hp. It may be wise to key the crank at 700hp or above.
It never failed. I only pulled it out because the resistance levels were off. That sensor had the greatest success from soldering wires directly to the board
Welcome to the pony show. So far the gen 1 level sender I put in a few days ago is holding up. Problem is they are discontinued from mazda. Only option is to find someone selling a whole gen 1 basket.
@Rokusek I just dropped the basket back in with his gen 1 sensor. Comparing it with others, it looks to be the same materials used for the terminal ends contacting the board. Really crossing my fingers it doesn't die in a few days!
Good to know you have some extra basket assemblies. Thank you...
He's sending me just the level sensor. Hopefully, this puts this issue to bed for good. Crossing my fingers. Oddly enough, it doesn't appear any different than all of the level sensor boards I have experimented with so far.
