Is it worth doing work to the stock motor with 168k on it or no? I plan to bike it eventually but just trying to do minor motor mods. Also I think my turbo seals are blown cause it shoots out white smoke with a little bit of gas and burns through oil like crazy. Thoughts?

Compression test done? White smoke is normal. How is oil loss? Vvt and chain done?

It makes a loud rattling type noise every time I start it up. Belt or something like that? I’m just trying to maintain it for longer use until I get it built. It also has “fuel cut” feeling when I give it almost full throttle here and there. But can’t tell if spark plugs need to be replaced or the hpfpi [emoji2373]

Your VVT is going out and chain may be slack. And delaying this maintenance will be bad.

Ok thanks for the heads up I’ll have to get it checked out. Any idea how much that might run me?

Probably around $1000 for a shop to do it. The parts are around $400-500 and it's kind of a pain. But it absolutely needs to be done ASAP.

Ok thank you I’ll see if my guys can get me in. I’ve been searching for another daily since I’ve been out of one for going on a year so yeah. It sucks putting wear and tear on the 6 smh

I bought an MS6 with 150k miles, on the test drive i heard a rattle like you described. I figured it was a loose heat shield or something. After getting it home and googling it i discovered there was so much slack in my chain that it was hitting the valve cover. With the car cool and off, you can take off oil cap and see how much play there is in the chain. It should be tight, mine could move a lot. replace this asap otherwise pistons will run into valves when it skips timing.

The kit was about $500 and 6 hours of labor in our garage. After that is sorted then we can take about the smoke. Could be valve seals, piston rings, turbo, pcv. If you have good compression across cylinders then i wouldnt be so worried.
