2.3L MazdaSpeed3 Head Stud Specs

Hello all,

I am a wanderer from DSO (D-series.org), one of the biggest discussions happening over there is the 20+ year debate on how to get our heads to seal under high cylinder pressures.

One of the best solutions we have come up with are a simple pair of ARP headstuds, but past the 350hp mark, they lift like crazy.

You guys have similar sized 10mm aftermarket headstuds that are available in L19 and 625 material, so I'm trying to retrofit a set of MazdaSpeed3(2.3L) headstuds to a d16y7 block/head.

I know the length of your headstuds are 5 inch, but does anyone know the thread lengths?

Or no one answered because they don't know it off the top of their head.
I even tried to look it up for you but came up with nothing, call / email ARP and see what the specs are as I didn't see it on the product info.
I would say our ARP ones aren't the answer either as generally from what I've seen the OEM ones do better, and if our guys don't use those they use the freektune custom H11 head studs
 
You could also order some studs that you "think will work" and return them if they don't measure as expected. I've done that a time or two with various projects.

I mean if you guys over there are trying to run 350 HP through a D-Series Honda motor I can't see ordering something to see if it will work being that big a deal cost wise.

I also tried to find a tech drawing of the studs but also came up with nothing which is why I made the same suggestions you did. Someone has a spec somewhere they had to manufacture the things using something to reference.

Thanks all for the advice, I appreciate the effort of even looking up old tech drawings to help some random honda head.

I tried calling ARP but I never got through to a real person, which is why I came here.

It looks like im gonna double check the return policy and just buy them. If they fit, then perfect, but returning them shouldn't be too big of a hassle.

Cheers dude good luck, hopefully it works out, might be worth dropping freektune a line since they have some custom ones (better than ARP for our platform) and see if he has the specs you're after and is willing to share the OEM specs. He does take a few days to respond via email dudes super busy tuning and racing his own car

Will say weekends around here can be slower especially spring - fall. Which can be frustrating if you're after numbers for a project and that's your planning time, I get it.

If You do get the numbers you're after if you could drop them here for us as well that'd be appreciated.
