I am using an excess amount of oil. I do not see any blue smoke coming from anywhere and there are not any leaks dripping. What else should I be looking for?

unless a gnome is coming in at night to steal your oil it is leaving in one of the two ways you mentioned. i doubt that you missed a massive leak so i would look harder at the exhaust.
