We have had a number of inquiries about Fontana Village reopening. The latest news is that the future of Fontana Village is uncertain. The popular resort leases the land from the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) and according to the May 28, 2020 issue of The Graham Star Newspaper, "the resort has been exploring the possibility of not proceeding with the lease." So it appears that the resort will not be opening in the near future.
 
I think I saw OP was updated 5/25/20 (and maybe again 8/14/20?). Any recent considerations given continued onslaught of COVID? I’d love to meet y’all and also not die saying hello.

Just wait all of the restrictions on this side are getting relaxed all of the sudden might be better in a month or two
 
Is this still on for April? Only asking because I need to take a day off to head down on Friday.
 
We have a group organizing for the same dates as this! We can definitely try and meet up, as I am not 100% what the schedule is for when we are down there!!
 
Alright everyone!

Quick run down mainly for the new comers.

Housing:

Large group at tail of the dragon vaction rentals. Smaller group at hotel. Others peppered wherever.

If you're still looking for a place the hotel and surround cabins are an option just google and check air bnb. Post on here if you need rommies. Filling up fast everywhere act fast!

Comms:

Highly advised to bring a radio.

Myself and possibly Ernest Jones Aka DJ Ern ???? Can help you get programmed. If this is too much just grab a cheap walkie and extra batteries. The attena is optional.

Food:

Working on dinner arrangements now likely the hub. Other meals will be sporadic. Well try to post in here.

Photos:

Group photo? The dam is off limits kind of. Have to be in a parking spot and there's a few too many of us to do that. Fontana ball field is an option or closed to maryville there's also a nice turnout otw to the fontana dam from the dragon.

Arrival:

Typical group is there starting Thursday afternoon until Sunday morning. Most of group will have arrived by Friday evening. A majority usually shows by Thursday evening.

Covid safety:

Be responsible. If you have covid or symptoms and are not clear via the guidelines it's adviseable to stay home no fun giving your buddies the cooties.

The roads:

Stay in your lane. When you go out go with a group or at least let someone know you went out especially at night. It's a public road not a race track have some fun but keep it sane. Seen too much crazy up there.
 
So i'm guessing this is still a green light for everyone? I'm new here and would love to go and meet some of you other guys with speeds/nonspeeds.
