280z build

[Youngwonder]

I purchased 2 280z (2 for 1) as project cars to get into something new. One of them the guy started as his main project but when I inspected it i determined that there was too much to do on it for me right now. It was riddled with rust. The previous guy started to just paint over it. The other one looks like it has little rust and interior not trashed too much.


General plan:
Clean interior
Paint and dynomat floors
Roll cage
Replace all suspension parts
Upgrade brakes and lines
Wheels and tires
Paint
Rebuild engine

This is my first time doing this so I expect it to take a while to finish. Wish me luck!

I have a lot of work do. I have an engine in my dining room. My storage shed is filled with the body panels. My room is filled with the speed parts. I might as well turn my whole house into a garage. I'm definitely looking forward to learning.

That's what I heard from everybody. Everybody that grew up driving them said that it was one of their favorite cars. My coworker has a 260z that's been garaged kept pretty much it's whole life. It was in really good condition. She wanted too much money for what I thought it was worth.

Ugh.. JELLY!!!

My uncle was going to give me one as it's been sitting in his drive way for a long time. New England weather killed the frame tho.. so he junked it. He even had some OEM replacement parts waiting to be installed.

They get rusted pretty badly. The one in front is pretty bad. I'm going to use that one to practice cutting, welding, and repairing. If he still have the parts send them this way lol.

The gold one looks like it's still in pretty good shape. My cousin has a 240Z that he's been restoring...It's gone from a 1000 dollar car to a 10,000+ dollar car in about 5 years (mostly sweat equity). Good choice for a project! They're getting harder and harder to find.

The gold one there's paint over the rust so in the pic it looks decent. It could definitely be a big profit margin. I know I would not want to get rid of it. Once I finish up on the speed I will get to work.
