airbag dash light on

Had the airbag recall done. I hardly drive the car since I got another family vehicle, my CX-7 I just wash it, charge the battery and go for a drive a couple times a month.

The airbag light has come on then gone out a couple times, I thought it was because I had a light passenger at first, or a heavy backpack. Now it's on all the time the last couple weeks.

Has anyone dealt with that? Should I take it to Mazda like the manual recommends? Should I wait to see about the updated Takata recalls? I just saw there might be more, and I am not sure if my car had a temporary fix or not, I can't remember...

Anyway if anyone has any input, please share, thanks.

I've had this problem and yes I find that they tend to come on after long storage (I travel between 2 cities and the CX7 sometimes sits there for a while). There are a bunch of cables that's under the seat which tend to get a little dusty at the connectors. These set of wires are airbag linked. Spray them with electrical cleaner or MAF sensor cleaner spray ( I use the CRC stuff). That usually solves the problem. Mind you, you may have to repeat again after long storage.

Hope that solves yours.

I just replaced my clock spring as well at 242K on my Gen 1. Its an easy fix, only took about 20 minutes.
Here's the link to the easy fix.
