During my build I noticed that my CEL was inoperative. I pulled the cluster out, disassembled it and found that the CEL light had been pulled off the circuit board. I searched the web and called a few Michigan based vendors and none of them would repair a Mazda dash. I went back online and found Southern Electronics in Richmond VA. (www.instrumentclusters.com). After speaking to them I sent the cluster out.
The dash cluster came back and as I’m unboxing it; I see that the box is crushed, it looks like someone sat on it all the way from Virginia. I pull the cluster out and all the tabs that mount the cluster are broken. I documented everything and filed a complaint with UPS. I called Southern Electronics, the guy on the other end of the phone sighs and says just send it back, we’ll fix it. UPS won’t do anything. I sent it back and true to their word Southern fixed it. UPS denied the damage claim weeks later. I installed the cluster after the tabs are repaired and it works fine, I have a CEL light that operates as it should.
Southern Electronics may not be a MSO org approved vendor but they did a great job and even repaired the cluster when it really wasn’t their fault.
