Becker Performance Coil Packs

Hello, I adjusted my signature so you can see the mods. The HKS product was very easy to install, because it came with a plug and play harnass. All I had to do was plug it in the ignition wiring without cutting, find a space for it under the hood of my Mazda 6 MPS and connect earth wires! Link: http://www.streetunit.com/product_p/43001-az002.htm. I could do a run without the Twin Power connected. I gapped at 0,7mm and no blow out with euro 95 tune at 22 PSI. Before I had some kind of stutter. What kind of logs are you looking for? Can't do logs right now, have to wait for 3,5" intake tune from Stratified.

Logs would be helpful because we usually start seeing blowout ~108-110 IDC. Also, we're normally gapping to 0.026", which is ~6.5mm. I'm curious if this would address high IDC blowout. I'm especially curious if it helps MPGs, which would always be nice. But that is a hefty price for a mod that I've not seen run much at all (the HKS ignition). I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing most folks are okay with small spark gaps/more frequent plug change intervals. It's worth doing some experimentation, though. Maybe you could ask Lex (or whomever you Stratified tuner is) if he thinks the HKS and/or those coils will make you more blowout resistant and give better gas mileage?

I changed the sparkplugs and gapped the fresh once at 0,8mm, just to see if I would get any blow outs, but so far so good. Am in the middle of tuning session with 3,5" intake.

Standard spec says 0.6-0.8, new plugs should be 0.6-0.7mm. So 0.8mm technically in spec if you're very accurate with your feeler gages. I wouldn't expect blowout at that level given it's still in spec though, until the gap widens after a while. Someone will have to push above the spec to really get anything useful.

I wound up having the dealer put in new plugs a while back, they didn't gap them (claimed they were correct out of the box). I think I did get better fuel economy than after having put in a set with spec gap. Of course it helped that I couldn't get into the throttle much. I did notice I could get more into the throttle if I eased into it very progressively, if I just whacked it open fuckin' fuhgedaboudit.

Just ordered a set of these, having blowout issues so we shall see. Ordering new plugs also.
For the sake of science, would you be willing to try just the coil packs first? If you do plugs and coils at the same time and it works, we won't know what fixed it. Also, what IDC are you getting blowout at? Hopefully you can get very similar logs (ambients, etc.) to have comparable IDCs; again, for science...

My IDC's are not an issue, bellow 100 when I have the issue. Not sure what's causing it but replacing the plugs and coils first. I had planned on replacing the coils first but since I'm having issues bellow 100 IDC I may not be the best tester for these. Im getting popping below 90 IDC, not sure it's the plugs or coils but the coils have 143K on them so replacing.

Hello, I bought those and installed them. They are working fine. Spring inside seems harder and the package is topclass. All in separate boxes with padding! I also have a HKS Twin Power connected to them. That was right from the start. Don't know how they perform without the HKS.

Now that you've had em for a bit, how are the coils still running?

The stiffer springs sound like a nice bonus for our cars, too.

Bought a set and they don't work, sending them back. The boots don't fit over the NGK plugs, swapped out my boots and tried both sets of springs and the car won't even idle. Must be for Mazda 3's and say they work for us but didn't for me.
I did some research and it's for 3s plus a few builders said to stay away. OEM is the best.

Dang. Thanks for vetting this out for us. Considered making a PSA so everyone knows more readily?
