Best wheel/tire combo

Why no to xxr? Their weight?

They look bad IMO. They look cheap, feel cheap, are cheap. Sizes are all wonky (why do we need 8.75" wide wheels?) I have run them before, back before they were even called XXR and when I was younger and dumber. They promptly proceeded to fall apart. Granted this was back in 2005-2006ish, so maybe they have increased production quality since then, but to me you get what you pay for and wheels are not something I personally want to cheap out on.

Oh, and did I mention they look bad?

Alright thanks for the advice. I have heard they are getting better and lighter but they are still around 22lbs each for the 18x9 +35 too. My car is stricly a DD but an occasional race against stupid diesels in town that think they can win is always a possiblity lol

As far as I know, though I could be very wrong, XXR still uses rather old technology. If you want to stay on the cheaper side, Konig wheels have come a long way in the past decade or so. They have some decent looking wheels for relatively cheap.

Are you set on 18s? 17s are usually cheaper as well as are the tires.

I guess I like the look of 18’s enough to sacrifice a small amount of weight for them yeah.. And so Konig’s aren't too expensive? I usually buy a used set with tires already on them so I get new wheels and some tires at the same time! Lol
[doublepost=1524879742][/doublepost]If I wasn’t as worried about $$$$ then I would love to get these wheels!

Yea I have the 17x9 as well with +45. Also need the 5mm spacers to clear the struts and shocks. Should have looked for +40 :)

I did find a set of 5mm spacers with built in hub extenders which makes things so much nicer.

Do you know anyone with an ms6 running rpf1’s? If so what is their set up and any pics of ms6’s with 17’s?

I’m starting to work a ton of overtime to get some $$$$ so when I have enough I might get a set. The Koni’s I found were still only a little over 19lbs for 18x9? Would I really notice the weight difference that much?

Probably not. Most people wont notice. But I will say I did notice a difference going from RX8 wheels (~22lbs I think) to RPF1s (15.9lbs). That coupled with my lighter brakes by 7lbs up front is a noticeable 13lbs per driven wheel. For a DD car, run what you like as long as its not junk. Weight probably means little.

The old rule of thumb when buying wheels for your car:
Cheap, Light, Strong. Pick two.

Work, Advan, Volk, Blitz, CCW, BBS, Desmond....
All better than any knock offs. I'd save up a little longer and get some legit wheels before I threw my hard earned cash away on something that is weaker and heavier than the real deal. Plus those that know, will know, if you know what I mean. ;)
