BioBandit's 08 MS3

Update, car has been running for a few months, on stock turbo. Got to go to the track late last year and broke the car there. Dump tube failed because shitty metal and weld this caused the fuse to the battery to blow. Installed new fuse, still looking for a new dump tube.IMG_20180801_205944.jpg IMG3747429625661210011.jpg IMG_20181116_141634.jpg
Most recently I decided to install the rebuilt GTX2867r.

Of course the old K04 didn't want to come out easily, so I took a dremel and angle saw to the last nut.
IMG_20190216_205625.jpgFree K04 for anyone who wants it :P

In the future, gathering stuff to rebuild the control arms. Then later down the road get some chassis bracing from TB performance.

Fucked something up, rewriting this post.

Found a coolant leak, chased it down, I THINK I found the leak and fixed it, will check tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will be getting a custom dump tube. will post pics later.

Next up will be fixing some race wheels, and setting up a track cam for the car with a GoPro 3

This will be mounted to an aluminum bar running from headrest to headrest.
An OBD2 splitter to connect a V3 to a bluetooth dongle for an overlay.

Unless someone has better ideas for a track camera setup.

A couple weeks later and one race, no more leaks!!!

Installed the track camera and did a quick test last night. On payday I will pay for the full version of Race Render to get the extra features. But damn the quality is not as good as I thought it would be, might need to upgrade my camera now, I was really hoping the video quality would be better. Oh well it will work for now. If anyone wants to see the weird stuff I did to get the interior camera mounted I can post about that too.
Template public:_media_site_embed_youtube not found. Try rebuilding or reinstalling the s9e/MediaSites add-on.

What camera is it? A lot of them are pretty crappy at night.

If you get some weird results with the OBD splitter (and bluetooth obd is very slow)... you can just import the csv into racerender. The annoying part is you then have to sync up the video with the data.

I have a Hero 3+, I am hoping it is only because it was filmed at night. I went and watched video I have recorded during the day and it does look better.

Damn, I didn't know you could do that, I don't think the splitter is working it seems like only one device at a time is allowed. I was just going to unplug the accessport while at the track since I am focusing on driving.
[doublepost=1554094927][/doublepost]One week away until track day!!!

I used an OBD splitter at the dyno (for dyno rpm pickup)...and results were meh. Since my logging device was polling the ECU at a fast rate it just resulted no data for both devices every now and then. Now if you had 2 slow polling devices it might be OK, but in this case, both are trying to max rate, so I don't think it would work well.

The only downside to using bluetooth OBD only is you can't see some important params like knock etc on track... I had the same dilema.
[doublepost=1554130293][/doublepost]I think it wasn't until gopro 5/6+ now that low light actually looks "OK"...for day time track stuff you should be OK, but the cameras have come a long ways for sure.

I had a sony cam which was similar in capability to go the hero 3 and got the hero 5 about a year ago and it was such a huge step up in quality and features

Sounds like I need to save for the Garmin Virb Ultra 30- because it comes with a bunch of sensors built in

The track camera setup worked well! The brake and throttle positions seemed to be quite off but the video quality was way better during the day, and should be good enough to review my runs.

Car ran great today! No leaks, no hiccups other than clunking from, I think endlinks or something suspension related. But the car handled great and was quick, can't wait to get more seat time!!!

Using RaceRender? As I understand it, having a brake OBD PID is very rare and RR now uses gps accel data to calculate a "brake" field of sorts. Unless you have a good external gps (10+ hz), this will probably be garbage data.

TPS can give weird results as it's not linear vs accel pedal position etc.... using boost or MAP as a 'throttle' type reference may actually be more useful in my experience.

Post up a vid!

Ahhh that explains why!! I was hoping I'd be able to get away with using the phone GPS, more motivation to grab a Garmin virb ultra 30 lol (it has a 10ghz GPS built in I believe).

I created a new thread for race videos. I need to post the track map in there as well. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?ur...share_tid=7838&share_fid=1407952&share_type=t hopefully that works lol.

You're in NM, if you ever want to come up and check out time attack or just hang out I'm sure we could find you somewhere to sleep!!
