Built Motor Longevity?

Ok , I understand there will be many variables.
After reading on one of the performance sites that you should expect about 15 to 20 000 miles out of a built motor due to cold start piston slap etc..I am now having serious second thoughts about building the motor in future for big power.

Are there guys running built motors with 350 - 500whp long term?

The main factor would be keeping up with maintenance religiously, good fuel and good oil as long as it's built correctly.

@Sho Had 90k on his basic built motor 500-600whp majority of its life. He has a thread on here too documenting the journey, beginning to end.

85k miles and some change on mine when it got pulled. My friend who has it now will try to get it to the 100k mile mark.

Manley 2618 88mm pistons. Manley recommended piston to wall clearance, with top ring gapped at 0.020 and 2nd ring at 0.022.

Engine was broken in on E23 mix on stock fueling at 22psi peak in a PTE 5858 in fall of 2015. Feb 2016, went to a PTE 5862 on meth. Made low 500/391 tq. Then went 6th port and made 540ish on e48.

Then went PI and made 575whp/467tq on e48 at 35psi. Turned it up has high as 38psi on the 5862. Then at 80k miles. Went to a 6266 at 36psi and ran that at 600+whp at 36psi for 5k miles before parting out.

Never slapped on cold start. Never burned significant oil (more than a half quart) until close to the 85k mile mark. When we pulled it, compression was 170psi on cyl 1, 3 and 4. Cyl 2 was at 155psi, with 20% leak down in the head. So likely a valve sealing issue there.

Otherwise. Pretty trouble free aside from any issues I caused myself

Thank you Sho
That gives me encouragement to build it eventually
Much appreciated

Thanks Anthony
Yes I would deff keep up with regular maintenance.
Cheers

Simple motor build is key, pistons, rods, head studs (if running higher HP) gasket with early maintenance will prolong engine life just like it will for a non built engine. One of my friends is going on 4 years now with his engine with just pistons /rods (slightly over bore). Not sure what mileage is at this point but it only comes out in the summer
