I couldn't think of a good thread title, but @Raider told me I should hang out here.

I got my start in autocross and motorsports on the Mazdaspeed platform. Owned 2 Gen Juans, a Speed 6, and an RX8. I have now graduated to a 6th-gen Camaro with the 1LE track package.

I figured I would use this thread to post the few maintenance and upgrades I do to the car, along with pictures and other details.

It's a 2018 SS 1LE, with an intake and axle-back exhaust. No tune, so no added power. Has ACS Composites Rock Guards, Front Splitter, Rocker Panels, and a Duckbill. Also has replica ZL1 19" rims for a 305 tire setup on all 4 corners for autocross.

I don't have any immediate major plans for the car. It's competitive locally and an absolute blast to drive, and I am still not driving it as fast as it can go. Maybe a few years down the road, I will do a built motor and really build it out to CAM-C spec, but for now, it's a fun street car that is competitive at my local autocross regions.

This is my 2nd year in this car, and we are about halfway through the season. I was actually starting to feel a bit stuck in my progress driving the car. The first year and the 4 previous events this year, I had consistently been between 12 and 15 top raw and pax times locally and just could not seem to break into the top 10.

Well I think I finally sorted that out, I just need to trust the car in the corners more. During the 4th event I had a bit of an epiphany with that, and let a few others fun run the car. I didn't think the car had any more grip for the corners, but man was I wrong. With event #5 this year I landed 6th overall in raw time, and 8th overall in PAX. That felt extremely good and I feel unstuck a bit. We will see if I can keep it in the top 10 the rest of the season, but I might start driving my Sons GTI with him once I have cinched 1st place for CAM-C.

How would you compare the speeds vs the camero? Night and day? I know the camero is rwd, V8 etc..

Where the speeds heavily modded or pretty stock?

Fun factor, which ranks the highest of the cars you had?

Yea its a night and day difference, the GM Alpha 2 platform/chassis is outstanding. My main purpose for Camaro is track and autocross, occasionally I will take it out to drive around down, but at some point I will mod it to the point to where keeping it street legal will be pointless.

The speed platform is a blast, i preferred the speed6. Being a FWD burnout monster is fun, but launching and having traction for all that power is more fun. My speed 6 and first speed 3 where on the K04 just full bolt on and tune, 2nd speed 3 was on a CS turbo so a bit more HP for that one. I think they are fun street cars, and can be fun in track days and autocross but the Camaro is on another level. A good example would be I can go up to a 305 wide tires on all four corners without any modification to the suspension or fenders, where getting that kinda tire on a speed would been cutting up the body.

As far as fun factor I think that is kinda tough. I recently just picked up a mk7 GTI for my son, and if I didnt need a truck to tow the camaro around I would probably pick up a golf R for a daily driver for myself. Hot hatches are just fun, practical, and I am sure there are plenty out there that would take my camaro in a straight line, but the driving dynamics of RWD is tough to beat in my book.
