Cas' 800+ or Bust Build

I'm afraid to go to the track with an EWG, built motor, 35R car on slicks/skinnys and look like a fool. I never tracked my Speed with anything over ~370whp on summer tire so it's going to be a learning experience for sure.
Hahah oh yeah there was a huge group of diesel trucks and a few subies watching. I'm sure someone cracked a joke about me but like you said it's a learning experience. I'd like to get down to 12s by the end of the season. A buddy of mine said my car has 11s in it but I need more seat time haha.

Wow that is rather odd to see a chunk up and depart.
Yeah, I have no clue what caused it to do that and don't remember hearing anything odd sounding from that region. I don't even know how long it's been like that. It's a good thing I went to the drag strip because I wouldn't of even known that it happened.
 
Update on my hatch:
My car is scheduled to go to the body shop on the 26th. I didn't realize it would take that long to get my car in. I feel like another 2 weeks is going to kill me seeing my car like this. On the plus side, at least it's drivable. I talked to Enterprise about a rental today and mentioned that I would like to have a Camaro or Mustang if they have it just so it's not completely boring haha.
 
Well @Need2pu dropped off my new slicks to me over the weekend :D. I gotta shave my calibers to get these bad boys to fit but shouldn't be that bad. I'm probably going to still use my QTPs till I can get more seat time and break these guys out when I have more experience.

I also cleaned up my garage a little bit and hung some signs up. My work bench is actually more cleared off now, I know it's a mess lol. I just took a picture of the signs when I finished. Figured it was a nice addition.

Here's a little Mexico action with @Sho and I when he was down in my neck of the woods over the weekend. The difference between him FFS and me not seemed to make a huge difference. I have no clue what I was thinking on not flat foot shifting haha. Too bad we didn't have room or time for a couple more runs.

This gives me a better idea about where my power level is now (OVER 9000 lolz :D). I thought I was in the low 400's but it appears I'm in the mid to upper 400's since he dyno'd right around 500 whp.

Small update, I get the car back from the body shop tomorrow from getting the hatch repaired. It was supposed to be today but they said there was one small thing left to do that I asked them to look at (not related to the accident but from the previous owner). I went by the body shop a couple of days ago to check on the progress, they had to cut a giant hole in the old hatch to get the latch released. I was going to take a picture but I got caught up talking to the manager. It was kinda funny seeing a big chunk cut away from my car.

I can't wait to get back to tuning. Mark is doing an amazing job and here's a little vdyno (for what it's worth) to show about where I'm at with my stock block.

Your power and torque levels are nearly identical to my 35r 93 tune! Any idea what AFR you're targeting here?

I know I was just looking at what you posted today and figured I'd throw my numbers up since they were similar haha. On my 50/50 mix I'm targeting a 12.0 AFR. I'd like to at some point push the stock block some more. As long as my logs keep looking solid then Mark said he's good to push it some more. This same turbo on @etipp98's car set the stock block record.
 
Got my car back and extremely pleased with the results! The hatch actually looks better than the rest of my car haha.

What do compression and leakdown look like? Have you pulled the pan to look at the rods? When I see a turbo that big on stock block, I pucker... tick, tick, tick, tick... o.0 Glad a build is in the works.

I have done none of the above haha (oops). I do want to do a compression test, I just haven't had the time to do it. The car is putting down around mid 400s whp and mid 300s for torque right now. I should probably do that before asking my tuna to turn it up more. As you can see I live life on the edge ;)

Haha well I figured she's put up with me buying all this stuff for my car which essentially put off me buying a ring earlier this, I thought she deserved it for being so patient with me and my car (other girlfriend).

Well I did some experimenting yesterday. First time ever messing with carbon fiber. It was pretty cool, especially the part when the pot life expired of the epoxy and it got really hot then started steaming. I thought it was a good learning experience, I still need to sand the samples down which I may try sometime this week. I didn't use enough epoxy in some areas. You can see on the middle one where it looks like there's a puddle, but I just didn't put enough on the sample.
If anyone has any tips, it would be appreciated. I've watched videos and done some reading online but not really the same as actually doing it.

Vacuum bagging or just a straight wet layup?

Just a straight wet layup. I've read about vacuum bagging to help with getting rid of imperfections but I didn't want to commit to buying the materials yet. Do you have experience with vacuuming bagging?

I've done both many times. With wet lay ups, you can wet sand them with a few higher grit sand papers and it clean them up a bit as far as even-ness. If you want it to look very shiny, hit it with some clear coat.

Also, when sanding make sure to wear long sleeves and at the very least a dust mask (preferably a resporator)
