CorkSport Dankai 1 & 2 Built Engines

Honestly I think a fair price point would be around 6k. And I don’t like the fact that their 700hp block isn’t keyed or pinned.

6k with cams and head work? That would be steal IMO. Not to mention like people pointed out the turn around.

And Freek has shown you dont need keys and pins if you do it right. Not that Im near 700, but Im not worried about any thing (no keys or pins) at mid 500s. Yeah piece of mind, but thats all they add

I think like 8 of the top ten fastest MazdaSpeeds records were set on friction washers so yeah, assemble it right and you're good to go.

Glad you can support your argument so well. lol I respect your opinion that you think the price is high, but I would have like to see you show your work a little better. Otherwise it just kinda sounds like you are bitching for the sake of bitching
Well I’m not really in the mood to argue with someone over the Internet and I have 0 intentions of buying this motor. I simply said I feel the price is high. Get over it.

But you still felt the need to comment and disagree with the price with no intention of buying? Gotcha, I see how it goes. Im over it :)

Find a cammed, ported head, blueprinted option for a lower, or even similar, price to the stage 1. I'll wait.

But oh wait, "inb4v2" right?

Well it goes both ways. I can see you have no intention of buying yet you still commented. That’s called a discussion. But I’m done with this thread since I see people are getting upset and that’s not what I want/wanted.

Translation: I'm wrong and I know it but corksport sucks so I'm not going to admit it .

Next up: why vaccines are bad and it's just the government trying to mind control you
No I just can’t say I feel like arguing with you people. I’ve been burned with 3 different corksport products. You guys are so caught up saying these are so great and yet no one has fucking run one to back that up.

They're literally brand new; of course we don't have direct experience yet. What we're doing is giving our reasonable assessment of the cost, and offering support of a newly developed product until we're shown that it's undeserving.

CS doesn't have a perfect track record, noone does, but they've made great strides in the last few years. If all anyone does is jump in to shit on new products immediately upon their release, then the development is going to dry up due to lack of community support -- where does that leave us?

Not caught up on saying they are great, just not shitting on them right off the bat. Sorry you had a bad experience, but going off what we can see, the price seems right for what they are offering saying "you could get better elsewhere". Thats all we were getting at. You came in and instantly shit on this, so really, its you who is judging halfcocked, not us.

I’m just going to copy and place from the other place since I just got off shift and I’m tired from running calls all night.
Believe me I tried to like CS but getting burned on 3 products really makes it hard. Don’t get me wrong, I still have respect for them since they continue making parts and I hope these engines work out well for those who utilize them. But regardless I still think they’re pricey. I picked up a long block for $500, getting piper cams for $700, got pistons and rods for $700, machining will be $1000 since I’m getting the head ported and about $1000 for other odds and ends. That’s considerably cheaper, I get I’m doing the work but it just seems like a lot.

That's $3900 you are spending which does not include labor or any miscellaneous gaskets bolts etc. I wouldn't be shocked it all said at the end of the day you spent $5000

This so much. People dont take into account when building a motor. Having done a few there is always more to it than you expect. Not that the CS includes it, but fluids is one everyone doesnt take into account I see all the time.

That does include bolts and gaskets. Plus I’d still have a running long block with 60k on it to sell.

I will say finding a good long block for $500 is a steal, not going to be that easy to do that I would think. Pistons and rods for $700 is cheap too. So you got some deals there. No idea what cams cost normally, but full machining and head work for $1000 is another very good deal. All in all $3900 is great and you get to build it yourself to save, but those are amazing prices and some people dont have the ability or desire to do it themselves.

I see your point, but honestly to be fair the cost of a long block shouldn’t be factored in, in my opinion because you will owe them a core. If this didn’t have a core charge and it was $7500 keep your old block I’d say that’s a good deal. $7500 seems like an awful lot for rods that cost $800, pistons that cost $600, cams that are $600, and headwork. Those are really the only things that are done differently than other places like Ebtec and so forth. Believe me I do wish corksport well on this, I hope every single motor they turn out is a rockstar but it’s just not for me at that price point. Now I know some will also say they do blueprinting differently, but we don’t exactly know what that entails yet. It could be something as simple as following manufacturing specs on clearances, or it can be much more involved.

This activity was awesome to log on and see!

There is a couple questions I wanted to Address.

Hello @Brett@Corksport would it be possible for you to post the specs to which the engines are blueprinted?

Ill Chat with the VP tomorrow to see if I can share one of our hand signed blueprint certificates we include with every engine. This may be a possibility! So stay tuned for that.

And in regards to friction washers on the Dankai 2. I can certainly understand some peoples concerns. But, as pointed out above, several of the fastest speeds don't use keys or pins. When done right, they are safe and do they're job.
We also get away with this better because we're also not a high revving platform. I could understand if you're revving out to 10k+ . But in all honestly if you're going to be at that level, then you're probably past the power rating of our Dankai 2, and needing a full custom build anyways to support those lofty goals.
