Crank pully failure?

Has anyone had there crank pully bolt come lose and crank pully actually break when being pulled off? The middle broke off of the pulley.

Wow.

I haven't seen it on a DISI engine myself. I have seen a few on some PWC Mx5s with the built 2.5 engines but they were spinning those to the moon.

Is it a unraped block? Sometimes people will jam shit into the crank pully while loosening and tightening the crank bolt. I can see how that may stress the metal until it fucks off and crumbles.

Bought it used so the condition of the parts is unknown. I had it rebuilt and the crank pulley was the original one with 158,000 but who knows if it was ever fucked with. I knew it was an odd situation to see it broke like it did. Thanks.
