Grabbed a CS 51r battery box recently. Not a bad piece. Yeah, it’s not cheap but I wanted something that would cover both battery and ecu. Previous setup was a jbr tray with ecu velcroed on fuse box. Never was a huge fan of the ecu placement. It was fine for years. Only issue with the jbr tray and ecu placement was driving thru some hellacious thunderstorms a few years ago. Car kept cutting out on highway. Not sure if ecu and/or battery terminals were getting soaked. Just wanted some added protection. I was surprised how much grit found its way up the ecu harness, granted, the grit didn’t get past the harness seal but there was a lot of sand and dirt up in there.
The CS box sits further back than the tray. Pretty much back to the bulkhead. Install is pretty straight forward. Directions included. Only gripe is the fitment with my 4” intake. I have a RamFab 4” and it’s hella tight. I had to position the intake further down, closer to trans, than prior. Also had to add some padding between intake and box. CS warns against a close fitment with a 4”. Perhaps other 4” intakes may fit better. Fitment with any intake smaller than 4” shouldn’t be an issue at all.
Overall, I’m satisfied. The exposed battery in the jbr tray always drew attention at hpde/scca tech inspectors. Hopefully, the CS box will mitigate that.
Installed and yes that is a beer koozie on my brake reservoir.
