Dang Bumper Tabs! Again?!? Permanent Solution Time

I will be installing latches with a new method tomorrow, and will have a new and improved option for 2 latches with 1 being a replacement for the fenderwell bolt PIA. Should make it a lot easier to remove.

I will be interested in your results. Mine are getting pretty bad, and I need to remove the bumper but have been putting it off because I dont want to make it worse

I'm definitely interested in this. I know once I pop off my bumper cover to put my meth tank in, that thing is never going to stay on right again. I would go with the unfinished version and spray paint it to save $35 though.

Let me know if you want another tester, Raider; the entire front of my car is off so I can probably go for a replication at some point.

Installed. Was pretty easy. I will duplicate the brackets and see how to make em professionally. Or I will post up specs.

Forgot I had to do this to the bumper. No going back now!

Fender liner free members will love it. Those with a fender liner may need to trim the back of the mounting stud after installed tho. It. Interferes.

Also, the newer brackets are a must. They are black and like threading a lot more than the white ones.

Full write up coming.

Let me know about fab for the brackets. I can make drawings, and possibly find you a fabricator depending on quantity and what you need, that or I might be able to fab them myself.

It's like a 1" wide L bracket with slots in the middle. I did tighten it. Bracket needs a little wider slot to go around the plastic insert. But overall it's a great piece.

Shit yeah thats easy. If you want we can work to make a good drawing for it so people can make their own, and I can see if my work would be willing to make up a batch.

Sweet. I can take measurements tomorrow too
Thanks for diving in on this. I wish I had mine done yet, but life... How did you mark where to drill the pilot hole? Some recommend putting grease on the end of the stud and mocking up the bumper to leave a grease dot. Doing it a few times before first drilling is obviously recommended, haha.

Anyways, looks great! Were you able to adjust the stud length to get the bumper to sit exactly as flush as you wanted? Looks like it in the pics.

This is awesome, I know I'm definitely interested in this. Was going to get the quick latches from the other group buys and just never got around to it. Happy I waited, fitment looks prefect.

My originall how to on the old forum showed using claybar. I used it again. Then used a punch to mark the spot. Then I drilled a very small hole. Reinstalled to see if it lined up. Inserted a step drill bit and used it step by step and checked for alignment. Then latch on and done.

Eyeballed the stud into the bracket and adjusted it to go in or out until proper. Used locking pliers to grab the stud and turn it this time. Added the springs to help pop it off that they sell too.

I am mostly trilled I am no longer having to deal with the fenderwell bolt. And I made something.

@Maisonvi will now be my go-to on the bracket fab which I hope to make available first to MSO members and potentially sell to bring in $ for the forum.

There is no "2 weeks" with this. I have a lot to do. Car is apart for now until I get a part from the dealer so specs will be obtained tomorrow.

As for GenPu, if I can get one local, I have a spare set of latches to whip one up too. But I think it's an easy bracket style install since Mazda realized fenderwell bolts are bullshit.

I wish I lived closer, I'd let you borrow mine so you could get specs and all for some genpu love.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This for all my Genpu bros so they don't have to drop over $200 like me!
