davychronic's build

Thats good.
I had to return a cf hood for my mazda 3 years ago and it was at PITA.

I only posted the rpm link because I bought my cf hood and trunk from them back in 07 and they were really knowledgeable. They list your part number in the regular 6 section and not the speed6 section..

I emailed the seller after he accepted my offer to confirm it will fit to save himself the hassle of the return. Speed Performance clearly says mazdaspeed 6 for this hood.

Believe me, i have my doubts. Ive been looking for a decent carbon hood forever and have yet to find one so im fully expecting this to be wrong but they say it isnt and i think theres at least a 50% chance it will work.

I uppd the spring rate in my wastegate to 21 psi, man what a bitch it is to get that blue spring in there.

I know I'm late to the punch on this but next time you've gotta do this use a vice. I just wrap both jaws in towels or rags to keep the valve from getting scratched. Makes swapping springs a breeze.

If they're covering return shipping, there's no reason not to take a chance on it...

Yea the ebay guarantee does, and i have screenshots of the ad showing they say it will fit and emails with the seller incase they try to dispute the return shipping. Thats the only reason im really ok with this whole deal, it wont cost me anything unless it fits in which case it will be worth the $715

Yea if my vice could open up maybe one more inch it would have saved me a hell of a time doing this. The blue spring for these wastegates is pretty long and hard, hahaha

Well this company on ebay can neither confirm nor deny fitment for the hood on the mazdaspeed 6 and they dont want to be liable for the return shipping so they refunded me the money. Bummer

Well i took a little gamble and it paid off. The stock ms6 rotors are pretty much at the recommended minimum width for these willwod calipers i have so i did a little research and the cx9 has the same diameter rotors as the ms6 but are 0.20” thicker which just so happens to be the recommended thickness for these calipers. The offset and everything is right inline with the ms6 so i ordered a set of powerstop rotors for a cx9 and bam they work. Now obviously this isnt a good idea for stock calipers and i doubt theyd work but thicker rotors are better even if its only 0.20” thicker. I also got matching rears in the stock variety. I spent many many hours trying to find a better solution for the rear to have at least vented rotors but nothing i was willing to spend the money on at this time. Heres some brake porn.

Sexy, i love it

Thanks i have a spare set of similar 4 pot calipers for rotors that are made for stock front rotor thickness, and i keep telling myself im going to find some parking brake calipers and try to make some caliper brackets to put them in the rear with stock front rotors. Thats a lot more work than it sounds like tho, maybe next winter...
That would be a crazy brake setup ofcourse if i somehow managed to do that then i might as well drop the $650 for the 6 pot wilwoods to put on the front.

Eh, I wouldn't bother. It'll really mess up the braking bias if you put that much larger of a rotor in the rear. Mostly likely the car will get more squirrelly when braking hard if you do that.

Great find on the cx9 rotors.

Yea not to mention that i highly doubt the master cylinder could keep up. I can dream of decent brakes for this boat tho

Best brake mod would be a hundred or so pounds loss

Controlled weight transfer and brake cooling ducts might just work better than mammoth brakes in the rear. It'll save you on unsprung weight too.

Actually that is something i have been working on since i cant use my fog lights anymore. Only issue im running into so far is on the passenger side, getting the duct in a good spot since the engine is kind of in the way. Havent thought about rear brake ducts tho hmmm

Good pads go a long way. I don't remember how the options are for wilwood stuff.

Im running bp10s right now and havent really had issues with them yet put i havent whole heartedly beat them to death yet either. I have no problem stepping up to bp20 if the bp10 starts to fade early but i dont want to go much more aggressive than that.

Im also flushing out all the fluid thats probably a year old

Had a little time to deal with this minor issue today. If it was something visual that you see then i would have used sheet metal and tig welded it but i was in a rush to get it done while the wife and kid were taking a nap. I just migged up some of the scrap from the front rebar that i cut out and sprayed with ruberized undercoating and it works so yay.

200 acres of corn you say? Next year when it is close to planting season I'll send you some corn your way. Even if it's a nice 10 acre acre test plot, I'd love to see the look on the sales guys face when he see the sign of a company in California dipping it's toes in Iowa. Money saved, can go to car parts! Lol

Its next year @Littleloogy; hahahaha

Im actually looking at being a seed dealer for a company out of Illinois just across the Mississippi. They are called Prarie Hybrids and they only offer organic and non-gmo corn with no seed coatings and their local field trials blow Dekalb out of the water.

Ask and thou shall receive. You need some tricepta, it takes the Monsanto’s And Sengenta’s technology and mixes them together.

Dekalb... boo. Hate that name. Being a dealer would be cool though.

Well im moving away from all the biotechnology in corn and moving back to the basics with good old fashioned hybrids. The seed is less than half the price and so far is yielding higher than the dekalb stuff i used to grow. This will actually be my first year not growing any dekalb seed. We really havent had any issues with insects but of course the weather could change all that.
