Disabling cold start?

Looks like you have a couple things to work through! If it makes you feel any better, I had an irregular random misfire code that would come and go for years. I tried everything to get rid of it and pretty much decided to ignore it after a while. At some point it went away on its own. Haven’t had the code for years now. Maybe you’ll have the same luck

I have read elsewhere on the internet about disabling cold start by holding the accelerator at 5% when starting the car. I tried it this morning but not sure it accomplished anything.

Does anyone know anything about this?

I’m not looking to always disable cold starts. I just have a cold start misfire issue I can’t solve and I really need to get my car inspected and can’t have the CEL come on.
@jsilva, not sure if I have misread this thread or not.
Anyway.. easy way to bypass the cold start issue is to depress the accelerator pedal, than as you start the car you release the pedal all the way as the engine starts.
Works every time for me , as my car is loud and anyway I don't really want the car to idle so high when cold as it will be accompanied by pops and bangs. ( disturbs the neighbours as well).
Hope this helps

I was having a P0300 on cold start for many years, sounded like a VTCS delete on start up. I tried many things, any nothing fixed it, and i was just bypassing the cold start. However, I just changed my intake manifold, throttle body, and VTCS solenoid, and it has fixed my issue. Hope this helps anyone who sees it with a cold start misfire that has tried every other option!
