So I noticed several months back that DM started selling these G-loc brake pads.

The only thing I know about them, is that it is rumored to be the same guys that started or worked at Carbotech. They decided to leave and start G-Loc, or at least that's what the old ladies at the bagel shop say.

I do not have a Bookface, so I dont know what the hard parking rice kids are saying about them.

I have heard their name mentioned on some of the track mustang forums, but nothing on here.

Can anyone drop any first hand knowledge or experience with these mythical pads?
 
I’m running G-loc R12 pads. After turning my hawks to dust on track(they were HP+ and I over drove them badly) I said ok, I’ll try this G-loc stuff. A local race shop I deal with is all about G-loc and all of them run G-loc.

Rumor about the carbotech guys starting G-loc is believed to be true. Even naming convention between both brands pads is oddly similar.

initial bite isn’t as aggressive as my hawks were but they are damn consistent, handle heat very well, and pedal modulation is freaking fantastic. More pedal? More stoppage. They’re loud AF and after they see some heat, they’re even more loud. Leaving the track I have the whole damn street looking at me at every stop light.

I’m happy with them and will use them again for sure.

another thing to note, the R12’s do require some warm up time before they’re working 100%. Learned that on track lol. I do drive them on the street and they’re fine but brake late on track with no heat in them? Yea good luck lol.

my review is based off two full day track events. I also ran a new personal best with these pads and no other changes to the car. Braking later, and more consistently. Having faith in the brakes is a wonderful thing.

I'm about fed up with EBC, I know a lot of people on this platform use them but I have not been happy with them at all.

I've used Hawk before, but I remember them being loud sometimes. Stoptech pads on the wife's mustang are awesome too, but they are also a bit loud when cold.

I dont mind some noise so long as I get a good hard bite out of the pads, and not this "gummed by an old person without dentures" feel these damn EBC's have.
 
And Hawk pads are notorious for messing up a wheels finish, especially if the car sees hpde’s or autocross. Another reason I’m leaning towards G-locs.

The hawk dust is known to be pretty rough. I however used the HP+ for a while because I was getting them real cheap, and they work great on the street, initial bite is amazing. Even light track duty they handle no problem. They can be loud though.

if you won’t be hitting the track too often the g-loc R10 may be the pad for you. Maybe even the R8.
 
I put Hawk HB805U pads on the Roush and they have been great at the track. I no longer pucker driving into corners deep. I also have a set of Stop Tech Race day pads I'm going to swap in this best season to see how they fair. The Hawk pads have been good on the street too.

I remember the Hawk pads on my Nissan having a good bite. But that was forever ago, I cant remember if they were HPS or HP+. They did put out a bit of dust but meh... The noise caught me by surprise because it took them several thousand miles to develop.

I am very impressed with the StopTech's on the mustang, it's a nice initial bite with little to no fade when you get them real hot. They are the "Street Performance" set, they have a strong grinding sound when cold, dust is not heavy.

I dont know about the R10/R8 combo, I was going to start with a square R6 set since the car is not going to see any track time this year.
 
If the cars not going to see any track time R6 is probably plenty.

for some added info, I run R12 upfront and hawk HP+ for rears. I don’t think the rears do enough for it to matter and R12’s for the rear would’ve added a lot of cost. I got the HP+ brand new for $30 so I couldn’t turn that down.

Figured I'd comment in here. Yup, we do offer G-LOC pads.

I've been running these pads for years, and am a big fan of how well they perform on the track. They're a bit pricier up front than other pads out there, but they make up for it in pad life, rotor life, and the ease at which the dust comes off.

If anyone is looking for a pad recommendation, by all means hit us up! We don't stock many of compounds, cept for some of the more popular trackday ones, but we can supply all the compounds for all the cars.
 
Finally got these on the car.

I got the G-Loc R6 pads for front and rear.

These pads take a while to bed in, so please allow enough mileage in your plans to accomodate this.

These pads are really nice. They do have a bit of travel before you hit dead stop, which is good for brake modulation.

The hard bite/final stop is not hard to get to. They do actually stop the car on a dime compared to the awful EBC Reds and Yellows that I have tried in the past.

The front pad clips were set a little wide, and so I did have to narrow them in to fit the front caliper piston.

The rear pads have no dimples to identify inner and outer pads, unlike OEM.

These pads do make a high pitched squeak when stopping cold. However it doesnt take long for them to warm up, and when they do the pads stop quietly.

They do produce a bit of brake dust, but so far it has not been hard to wash off.

Overall this is a very nice pad with a higher operating temp range than OEM. They dont have the initial hard bite that the OEM pads have, but they dont fade like the OEM pads do once the brakes get a bit hot.

Even if you dont get the R6, I highly encourage anyone on this forum to try these G-Loc pads over those God awful EBC shits. You will not be disappointed with the stopping power.

I love my R12’s. Solid track pad(hawk dtc-60 comparable) but FAR less noise and dust. They take a few hard stops to start working properly but after that you’re smooth sailing.

good to know you’re enjoying the R6’s.
