gen 2 final drive in a gen 1 transmission

so i am curious about if you can fit the transmission final drive out of a gen 2 into a gen 1 i am used to hondas so the gears on the speed are too long for me lol

i don't believe there is any mix and match possible that makes a usable transmission ratio wise. the gen 2 gears are only a touch longer than gen 1 so not really worth swapping just for the slightly longer gears. you can use a gearset from a diesel mazda 3 but that requires machining on the input shaft to connect to our motors. your last choice is that SpeedPerformance had at one time custom made final drive shafts, i dont know if they still make it or if you would need to look for one second hand. that said, the consensus from folks that got the longer gears was that you really needed to be 500+ hp for it to make sense

Should be doable. A lot of folks use the gen 2 gears with the gen1/ms6 final drive for longer ratios so they can ride out 4th gear to 150mph at 8krpm on a 26" tire at the drag strip

I have no idea but you should be able to keep as it is the same transmission

If you think the stock gearing in your car is too long you won't want to even bother with the diesel gears. 3rd gear at 7krpm goes to 119mph and 4th would do 160+.

Youd be crusing around at 40mph In the city In 2nd gear. And 80mph on the freeway in 5th around 2000rpm

This is a 3rd gear pull at 700+whp on the diesel gearing
