Does anyone know if a 28x7 2.5 front mount intercooler will suffice for the mazda speed6

General rules for heat exchangers:
1. Frontal area (the side cooling air/fluid goes through) is absolute king. More is always better, without question.
2. Thickness is needed only for overall flow; too thick and you actually lose cooling efficiency. This is especially true for high thermal capacity fluids (like water). Basically, having too high coolant temps and going from a 1" thick radiator to a 4" thick radiator of the same frontal area is likely to make the problem worse, faster. Assume that only the first inch is actually doing anything if you are using air as your exchange medium (cooling fluid)
3. Don't assume that all exchangers are created equal; a good one for air to air intercooling would have both internal fins (boost flow) as well as brazed/welded external fins (cooling/frontal flow). A quick web search will show you what you need to know on this front.
4. Unless you 100% know what you're doing, don't buy an air water intercooler. You will be disappointed, or worse.
