Introducing VersaTuner Lite, VersaTuner Free, and OBDLink SX support

First some history.

When we started VersaTune 10 years ago, there was only one tuning solution for Mazdaspeed6. It cost over $700. We felt that was too much. So, we started VersaTune and launched VersaTuner at $399 plus the cost of a Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 J2534 pass-thru cable which cost $169 at the time. The total cost of VersaTuner and the cable was $568. After a few years, we were able to source our VersaLink cables based on the industry leading DrewTech Mongoose Pro. We offered a bundle of VersaTuner plus VersaLink for $549, which we still sell today. That's nearly $200 less than what a tuning solution cost when we started.

We didn't stop there. We are proud to introduce VersaTuner Lite and support for OBDLink SX cables in all of our personal versions of VersaTuner.

VersaTuner Lite includes all of the features and functions of the full VersaTuner with these limitations:

  • Tune Editor is disabled.
  • VersaTuner Lite can only flash tunes created by VersaTune, LLC or an Authorized VersaTuner Pro Tuner.

VersaTuner Lite is available now from VersaTune or any VersaTune Authorized Reseller for just $249.

Also, with today's release of VersaTuner and VersaTuner Lite, OBDLink SX cables are supported for all functions including logging, DTC management, and flashing tunes. OBDLink SX can be purchased from scantool.net for $29.95.

You can now have a full featured custom tuning solution for just $429 with VersaTuner and OBDLink SX. If you are only interested in flashing one of our off-the-shelf tunes or you want to get a custom tune from a VersaTuner Pro tuner, you can get VersaTuner Lite and OBDLink SX for just $279.

We are dedicated to improving the tuning experience and increasing the value of our tuning solution. We have reduced the cost of tuning your Mazda by over $300 all while adding new features. And we're not stopping now :)

Still undecided? Want to see what VersaTuner looks like? Try the VersaTuner Free edition. VersaTuner Free uses the same VersaTuner user interface to enable log recording, live dashboard, log viewing, and DTC reading and clearing. It's a great way to get a feel for VersaTuner at no cost. J2534, OBDLink, and generic ELM bluetooth interfaces are supported.

So I understand, with the Lite version the owner can't do any actual tuning their selves? They can only flash ots and pro tuner tunes?

You guys have been solid contributors to this community since day one and it is great to see you continue doing so.

The free version is a great help to people just needing help diagnosing a problem

Sounds like the lite version is more or less equivalent to what the AP provides out of the box now-- OTS tunes, or tunes from authorized pro tuners. (but way cheaper). Seems like more and more people tend to get their cars e-tuned, so it seems like a great option for those guys to save a few bucks.

That is correct. You can upgrade to full version later if you choose. The upgrade is $150 for the first 30 days after purchasing VT Lite, and $179 after that. So, you get 30 days to try it and decide if you want to upgrade at the same price as buying VT full version.

Thanks Steve. I bought a used hypertech and it has been working good for basic Bolton's. I may go bigger intake and would then have to go with you or cobb.

I do like the fact that you are more active, lower prices, and try to help the community. Accessports are still the Choice of most it seems. One thing that bothers me Is that Cobb do not discount their ap on vendor sites that offer discount codes. But you do which is great.

is there any list. for the approved, or tuner that support versatuner?
i know stratified is one.

Freektune does as well. I would love to know the pricing for custom versatunes as well. I never asked freektune when I messaged him tho. I don't know the price for custom ap tunes either.

If it's not a problem, post the versatuner prices for a custom tune.

Just happened to see this as I now have a built motor ready for 8k rpms and am trying to decide whether or not to try versatune. Aside from that, here are the e-tuner options I found that support it (or at least list it on their website).

(didn’t seem to list VersaTune on their website surprisingly)

I couldn’t find an option or price on Nishan’s website either but I am fairly certain he knows how to tune with VT. Dizzy Tuning didn’t give an option for VT as well, but I have heard he doesn’t seem to be very good with it. That is just what I have heard and is not from a personal experience. Hypnotic Tuning is a vendor here on MSO and doesn’t specify what tuning software they will work with so could be both but not sure. Prices range from $200 for pump gas tune on ko4 up to $275 for an aftermarket turbo, 91/93 tune plus E85 or methanol injection tune.

If I have missed any then let me know but hope this helps some peope out!
