James Barone Racing suspension series.

So JBR is getting into the coilover business, eh? Interesting... If they're comparable to KW v3 or Mazdaspeed coilovers, that'd be cool.

Wild! I know he's been testing something big for a year and a half now.
And we see pictures of JBR-sponsored cars tracking/auto-xing a lot. Seems like they probably would have a great deal of real-world testing on these. And with the customer service/warranty/price they usually offer, this may be a good alternative to my Swift/Koni Yellow/Bilstein B8 combo. I just REALLY hope the adjustment on the dampers is clicks rather than continuously variable. It just seems like matching damping rates much more precisely is easier that way.

The good thing for him is that he has hired a number of people to help in service, so he can do his thing and design stuff for us. We are lucky to have the few companies we do still developing parts for us.

I wonder how they work on the street too.

That'll be an interesting addition to his lineup. I like the Koni/Eibach combo that I run but I'd really like a nice set of coilovers when I grow up though.

I did a ton of research before pulling the trigger on mine. I chose Swift because they're the stiffest out of most of the options, have a linear rate (which is actually really important for consistent handling, especially if you have extra stuff in your car), have an extremely good rep in the racing/auto-x world, are made of lightweight material, don't sag over time, and show extremely consistent spring rate throughout their range of compression. I also like that they use the same spring rate for the rears even though we have like a 65/35 weight split. That actually helps bring the rear around better and addresses understeer inherent in our design.

Koni Yellows were a no-brainer. I only went with the fronts, though, because you can easily adjust them while on the car. Bilstein B8s were my choice for the rear because I don't have to worry about adjustment, especially having to pull them off, adjust, and put them back on over and over until I get it right. Besides, in the suspension world, Bilstein is top-notch too.

Having said all of this, my Swifts are 252 lbs/in. I'm thinking I'd like something in the 400 lbs/in range. I've heard good coilovers offer superior ride quality despite stiffer spring rate too, which is an all-around win.

Interesting. I'll probably pass 60k miles on my home commute later and I've been thinking about upgrading my suspension. This might be released at just the right time for me to upgrade my suspension.

I see you're just down the road from me. If you wanted to take a quick ride to get impressions, you're welcome to. I also have the JBR 125 RSB set on the middle setting.

I appreciate the offer! I'll let you know when the time comes.
