JgamB's "build it before you blow it" thread

"bout time! Is this gonna be a weekend thing? I might consider coming around and observing pending there's room and board somewhere ha.

You are welcome to come crash at my place all weekend. Just bring a sleeping bag/pillow.
I'm not the mechanic Brent is but I participated in 4 swaps over the last year. PM me the address, I can't commit yet but I'm off on Friday's and Saturdays. If you need some help on Friday I could drive down, often Saturday help is plentiful but not Fridays.
I'll shoot you the address.

Don't let him fool you. He's not scared to turn a wrench.

Twas included in my order from Edge last week, along with a bunch of studs / nuts / heat wrap, but good looking out.

I didn't get to stay to see the new motor go in but here are some photo's from Friday and Saturday morning. Great group of guys in Nator Alabama, was nice to spend time wrenching and hanging out with this group.

Thanks a bunch @Gandalf for making the trek and lending your hands. I'll post up some more pics in the morning, but we got her fired up mid-afternoon and the engine is sounding great. The ACT 6-puck is surprisingly stock-ish with a lot more feel than I expected and stop-n-go friendly pedal pressure. The exhaust doesn't even sound that bad from the tubular EM. So far so good!

Made it home safely... as did the extra motor. Struggled uphill.. but all good. Thanks to everyone for having me over.

I can't thank you enough @ms6mil for helping this weekend *and* saving me a 6 hour drive to drop off my core. We're looking forward to repaying the favor on your build!

~140 miles in and she's running great.

Idled for 30 mins and drained it, mild driving for 100 miles with some engine braking and another oil change, and 1 more at 200 miles then it's game on for tuning. The ACT 6-puck pedal pressure is maybe 5lbs heavier than OEM (barely noticeable) and the engagement is a bit touchy but very tolerable. The added noise is very mild from the Streetlite FW, and the balance shaft certainly appears to be doing the job - the whole car really only gained readily perceptible NVH from the exhaust, about halfway back to Speed Daddy sound levels.

So far so good. I'm waiting for HTP to finish those snazzy fender well meth tanks before I plumb the meth kit back in, so it'll be 93 and E85 tunes for the short term.
