My CEL came on for a P0101 code for the MAF. I was told by a shop that there were no vacuum leaks or anything and that the MAF needed replaced. Bought an OEM off EDGEAUTO. Installed it and cleared code. Code came back and my LTFT will be around -20.Also a pending code for running rich showed up but haven’t seen it but the one time. Any suggestions on what else could be the issue?

Have you verified the MAF connector and wiring? Also, what mods or Stock car.

The wires seemed ok when I replaced the sensor I can double check tomorrow

2013 MazdaSpeed 3

100.xxx miles

Just the P0101

Lots of mods I’m not all sure of each one. The ones I know of are 4” Intake, FMIC, Some model Garret Turbo,CPE Manifold, unknown type of exhaust. Everything on car was done by the previous owner, I bought it from a dealership though so didn’t get a mod list

I’m also unsure of the current tune or who the tuner was the car didn’t have an Access Port either.

It does happen intermittently CEL will go off randomly and all I can get from when the light comes back on is always when I’m under 3k rpm if I never ride below 3k rpm after clearing code it won’t come on. So seems to happen in lower RPM

I’ve replaced the MAF sensor is only repair I’ve done

What kind of logs exactly?

Oh boy. Did the car ever run correctly? You will want to get an accessport and start digging into the tune. Any idea if you can find the previous owner?

Been dealing with this since I’ve got the car. When I do get an access port when I connect it won’t it delete any tune that is on it? I have no way of knowing who the previous owner was, all I know is what state the car was from…

If it has always run like this it is possible that the previous owner uninstalled the tune before sale and sold the accessport. When you first connect the accessport you can download and save the current tune on the vehicle.

A 4 inch intake requires a tuneto run properly

I hope you got a deal on the car

I will buy an accessport soon and I’ll check into getting it tuned. But no I got a bad deal on this I bought it when prices were crazy. But I live and learn, should have done lots more research before purchasing.

Would be a good idea to get a list sorted out of what mods (brand and part model) are on the car. A tuner would need to know what you have if a proper tune is in order. If you are having trouble figuring it out post pics/questions or find a knowledgeable person locally.

To figure this out, looks like you might be starting at square one.

I’m assuming I’d be best to find a tuner locally since I’m not very knowledgeable about everything that might have been changed from stock.

Purple Drank or Freektune can e-tune your car if you have an accessport. They are the most suggested tuners of all time for the Mazdaspeed platform.

Post pictures of the engine bay underneath etc we can help you determine what has been done and then get an etune

I believe that should be pics of about everything I can see from the engine bay, can’t really fit under the vehicle to take pics of exhaust and if there might be cats I’ll have to jack it up when I get a chance. And I know the engine bay needs a lot of TLC.

Need more or better pics of the turbo to see what it might be.
Dont know what brand intake for sure.
I see Cobb BPV, Cp-e Exhaust manifold, Tial external wastegate, MAC 3 port boost solenoid. Also open filters on the oil fill and VC vent so assuming a catch can setup?
Might be something I missed. Also, the underside will reveal catted or not Downpipe and exhaust possibilities.

I don’t think I’ve seen any catch can or any lines to where it might run, but I’ll double check underneath when I get a chance to jack it up. I’ll also try and get better pics of the turbo. Only writing or anything I can see on turbo is M33 if that means anything?

I dont think M33 corresponds to anything particular for a Garrett turbo, possibly just a casting number.
I’ll have to take a few things out the way this weekend to try and get a look for a plate or something with the model. I did see this plate that says JBR on it though not sure if this is an EGR delete or what it might be?

Do you have a way to look at live data?

Look at the live value for maf voltage with the car running.

Local buddy of mine just had a brand new OEM maf from edge fail. Was tossing the p0101 code. Maf voltage at idle was reading 4.99V. Which is max voltage. Edge is taking care of the RMA process. But looks like mazda has sent out a bad batch of Maf sensors as he switched back to a used maf sensor and everything went back to normal. Now if you've tried multiple maf sensors, then it's time to look at the wiring harness or get a new AP and pay freek or PD for a fresh tune as who knows what the hell tune is on your car since the AP is missing
