MAF Sensor Bug

I have a problem where my vehicle instantly dies out when I have the middle wire (gray/black) plugged into the MAF sensor. If I have the wire unplugged from the MAF sensor, the vehicle starts and idles. I am wondering where this wire leads and what could be causing this issue. I have replaced the connector, thinking it wasn't making proper contact, but after replacing it. The problem persists. I'm working on a 2007 speed6 with several issues in the boost department, but this doesn't seem to be related, as the vehicle operates (not well, but runs and drives without this wire plugged in). However, I don't like the fact that it's not plugged in, as it shoots a CEL relating to MAF low input voltage.

Looks like a ground (though this pic probably isn't for this car, the wiring is likely similar). Means either the MAF itself shit the bed or there's a short somewhere. What does the MAF voltage look like when KOEO?
