Mazda oil filters?

Yesterday I did the spin on conversion on my MS6 and I picked up a few filters from the dealership (the parts guy gives me better pricing which is why I often get parts there).

I noticed the Mazda filters seem really unsubstantial. It looks like half the filter is empty. I’m no oil filter expert by any means, but when I compare these to my Hyundai/Kia filters (which are very good) they seem so lame.

Am I wrong? Is there a better filter?

Thanks! I assumed Mazda parts are decent, but I thought the amount of filter material is of significance in an oil filter so when I saw probably 1/3rd the amount of material as compared to the Hyundai filters I wasn’t sure what to make of it.

way more than amount of material that goes into how good an oil filter is quick google (it's your friend):

Thanks for the links! Yes of course filter efficiency is important, but if there is little material then I assumed it wouldn’t have as much contaminant capacity and so the lifespan would be reduced.

But hey if the Mazda filters are good then I have no problems with it :)
