Meet Helga

Rokusek

Are you my dad?
Motorhead
Long time coming, needless to say, I needed a new daily so I can solely the Diesel for a work horse.

So I picked up a near 07 MS6 that needs timing and a little TLC. For now we are going to keep her stock but add some suttle things for longevity.

The car already has Damon motor mounts, new alternator, power steering pump and radiator.

Currently in the works:

VVT, new tires, throttle body, and simple cosmetics.

Near future must haves:
Injector seals, fuel pump internals and an AP.

After that... Who knows. 20220416_120054.jpg 20220416_163314.jpg 20220417_150442.jpg20220421_201901.jpg 20220421_202047.jpg 20220421_221525.jpg 20220421_221518.jpg 20220421_221531.jpg 20220421_221538.jpg

Little update.

Got some continental DWS06's 225/40r18 mounted up this morning. Registered the car and insured today.

Found a rear bumper at my work (automotive recycling center) that still had the exhaust shroud that I was missing. Got that swapped out.

Also found a second set of seats that have nicer leather bottoms and started taking them apart for the leather. The used seats heat function and upper power is broken and the ones in the car are fine. So swapping leather bottoms to rid us of some nasty tears.

Little bit at a time. Waiting on VVT kit to come in so we can swap that next week. 20220422_182823.jpg 20220422_202635.jpg 20220422_210318.jpg 20220422_212718.jpg20220422_213908.jpg

Update:

Got everything I need to do the VVT. Back story here. When I bought the speed3(Lilith) the owner had already done the VVT (after the engine blew) thinking that was the issue. Needless to say that the original VVT had already killed the valves. So I am reusing the VVT, chain, guides and tensioner from the 3. As well as the VC gasket.

Found out my local Podunk town Mazda dealership loves to take care of locals who own multiple Mazdas. Find out that me owning three puts me in a pretty good discount category for OEM parts that nobody else can beat.

Got three crank friction washers, crank bolt, intake cam friction washer and front engine seal for a screaming deal.

That's all good news. Unfortunately, I can't start working on VVT till tomorrow or Wednesday.

So, teaser pic to hold you off till then.

Also, had the opportunity to scope out the new CX-50 Zircon Sand in person and my oh my the pictures of this color do not do it justice.

Always nice to find an access port you forgot about. That itfp ring tool is nice too have around as well.

The AP came with the purchase of Lilith. Completely forgot about it. I did also find a box of "SURE" rear diff mounts for Helga last night too.

I don't remember who made those, but I've had that tool for... 9-10 years... Maybe.

Got some work done on Helga. Prepped the engine bay for removal of VC/TC. Have a ton of cleaning to do before I pull those in order to swap out the VVT. One day at a time, definitely slow going. 20220427_201454.jpg

Props Matt for making such an amazing product!

Picked up some penny plat, a Napa gold factory intake filter and oil filter, got some stock temp
plugs and a... Factory (barf) style oil filter... That's gotta change... Ooof.

Otherwise,
Calling it a night, got as far as I mentally could. Top end is timed, TC is on sealed and torqued. Just have to finish the bottom end tomorrow. Found the turbo is fairly new, but the intake was not on all the way so oil spewed everywhere. Found some bolts missing and some lose on the passenger side. Discovering more and more about this car as I move forward.
Will update with more details of the pictures later, I is tired.
Pictars!

Delayed post, got her all buttoned up.

New VVT, fixed a PS Pump wine, new plugs, all filters, tires some electrical. Put 70 miles on her yesterday and so far another 30 today. Running smooth.

All the torques and back together again!

Many more things to come after the test drive Saturday night, cruise and groceries Sunday and drove to work today I have established next on the list of things to do. Being she's going to be a daily, I need reliability as I drive 50 miles a day to and from work so upgrades are more so for reliability than performance but, performance is always fun!

Needs right now:
Wheels (discovered one is bent with a crack and causing some odd vibrations from rear of car)
Compression test
New brakes and lines
Shocks/struts
Diff mounts (previous owner bought Sure front and rear)

Wants:
Probably some rear camber arms and possibly fronts as well
Rear sway bar
Cobb Acces port
HPFP
Intake
TMIC (might snag the CS off the 3 for this)

MS6 rear camber is adjustable stock, and front camber can be adjusted with SPC's adjustable upper ball joints. if you're puttin in a rear sway bar you might as well throw some diff mounts in there too... because daily driver

I have the diff mounts already. Sway bar will come in time. And thank you for the reminder that the rear arms are adjustable. Completely forgot that. Mark that off the list.

Picked up a trans from work today for $125. 160k on it, gonna rip this thing open and check her out. Hopefully all she needs is shift pads. Swap those out and put it in the car and build them sell the other.
