New to me MazdaSpeed3 won’t pass emissions!

I took my MazdaSpeed3 to the emissions place and they said they couldn’t read the OBD port, so they couldn’t test it. I took it to a shop and they could read it fine, so I went to another emissions testing place but again, they couldn’t read it so they couldn’t test it. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? The mechanics said they haven’t seen something like this, and I don’t know what to do.

Sounds like a possible loose wire. Look atcrhe OBDII port and look at the wires and possible bad spots

If there was a loose wire wouldn’t the shop not be able to read it though? I’m just confused as to why the shop can read it but the emissions place can’t.

That is strange, but if it's a loose connection it could be temperamental and happened to work for the shop.

Do you have the self test kiosks in Colorado? If so, use one of them so you can fiddle with the connection yourself. And get yourself a cheap OBD reader so you can experiment at home with the connector to see how reliable it is or to determine if you fixed it.
