What are y'alls thoughts on this oil leak? Some seems to be coming from the timing cover, but what gets me is seeing so much oil where the head meets the block.

I am finally going to take this all apart, but it would be nice if I was sure where all this oil is coming from. I was losing just over a quart a week when I parked her a year and a half ago. I'm interested to see what you guys think. I'll be pulling the engine to get a really good look at everything and deciding where to go from there. Thanks!

No need to pull the engine Injector seals. Get yourself some Corksport seals for $250, opt for the puller for time savings. $200 in new gaskets for the injectors, $100 to have Injector RX in Texas to clean the injectors.

I know this as I'm doing this.

I have the same issue of a lot of oil stain around the area where head meets block - where does the oil come from to seep by the injector seals?

I have the corksport injector seals. Replaced the injectors with 4 new ones, oem and corksport seals. That was 15k miles ago. I'm guessing the only way oil could get in there would be through the intake manifold. Which would mean bad turbo seals or bad pcv? I have a new pcv on there and did a BNR stage 2. It has only 2k miles on it before I parked it to figure out this oil leak.

So it looks like it's from the injectors. But how is so much oil getting into the cylinder? Bad valve seals?

leakdown test time something is not right in that cylinder

In three cylinders. It looks like oil is getting past the valve seals. I wonder if my injectors are shot now that they had oil forced past them, probably the least of my worries. I'm thinking full rebuild. Engine has about 206k miles....it's time.

Pulled the engine. Getting a stand later today. Need to pickup the mess I have and organize things a bit before I tear down the engine. I got some good shots though....

Did you find out where the leak was coming from??

I'm on the exact same page, I was reading that if there is a PCV valve failure can cause a positive pressure in the crank case making the oil seals to blow, on my case I haven't find what the issue is but my car was perfectly fine without leaks until I upgrade the seals and at the same time did an oil catch can

failed injector seals by the looks of thing...if you read through it all...and yes PCV failure can cause oil consumption

Only thing I know right now is that the injector seals failed. Why there was so much oil in the combustion chamber is the next question.

Have not found root cause yet. I am in the process of tearing the engine down and looking at all the components to try and figure out exactly what failed. Whatever it was, the leak was massive. If I remember right, about 3 to 4 quarts every 400 miles. my best guess as of now is a combination of things, failed valve stem seals, and possibly failed rings or oil control rings? Once it is fully apart I'll know more.

New PCV was installed maybe 5k-8k miles before I stopped driving the car. Old one did not seem bad.

I am not terribly upset, engine has about 205k miles on it, but I wasn't too happy that the Corksport seals only lasted 30k miles. I thought the testing on the design indicated they could take up to 3300lbf to deform and seal. Something doesn't seem right. Oh well.

Found at the bottom of the oil pan. Anyone have any idea where it might have broken off from?

Haven't completely disassembled because I want a compressor to remove the crank bolt, and that's where I'm at right now. Long block on an engine stand.

I'm starting to look for machine shops to take the disassembled block to. Anyone have recommendations in the Dallas/ft. Worth area? I'm also debating getting the crankshaft keyed, but hesitant of shipping all the parts to Speed Performance. Looks like they are far from me. I guess I'll know more once I actually tear it apart. Hopefully this coming weekend I'll get further.

My seals looked similar, and I know the cause. Didn't torque em as far as I remember. Overtightned 40K ago. Had leaks before and after so it makes sense.

Interesting. I know I torqued mine down to spec. Only reason I put them in was because I was installing all new injectors. Where you losing a ton of oil as well?

I was before and after. I'll be making sure this time the seats are perfectly clean and torqued to 17-18 ft lbs. We used ugga duggas.
