[SOLVED] Only 9-10 psi after Corksport CST4 install

I installed a cst4 turbo and have a base tune from Justin at Freektune. My other mods relevant mods:

Accessport, Autotech fuel internals, Corksport MAP, jbr EGR delete, and jbr aluminum, tru 3.0 intake.

My base map I assume is set for spring wastegate pressure which I was told was 12-17 psi on the CST4. Im only getting 10 psi at wot in 3rd gear. LTFT is 5-7.

I am guessing boost leak?
Visually inspected the stock top mount connections, BPV, EBCS and they seem fine. Should I just grab a boost leak tester?

LTFT of 5-7 is not a gross abnormality...4-8 is decent, 2 is near perfection. If you were seeing above 8, concern...or even in the teens+ you should be worried.
Also 12-17psi on spring pressure dosent mean you will be hitting those numbers...Many factors go into the ECU computations to sort it all out.
Are you having any drivability issues?

car drives pretty good to be honest. The EBCS (waste gate duty) sticks on 0 the entire time I’m driving. It blips to 1 when I start it up. So that and the fact Justin told me I should see 12-17 psi led me to believe it’s just a spring pressure MAP. I guess I’m just worried because I’m not hitting the boost he said I would. I can post a log if you have time to take a peak.

If you are not having issues with the car, I would leave it in the hands of your tuner. Justin is one of the best on this platform and will see what it needs when you send him the necessary logs.

This, send your logs to Justin and wait for his reply, if he thinks there's an issue he'll let you know and we can help you from there if needed.

When you're emailing Justin don't send multiple emails put all of concerns and logs in one email

LTFT should be within -/+ 5 if you see +/-7 you May have a leak somewhere that you should consider looking into and -/+10 it's time to look for that leak and if you see 15 well something is broken. if you're trying to check for leaks a boost leak test is always a wonderful thing that's good I cought my last one I was sure everything was tight and seated properly turns out not the case, good tool to have on hand. Just be sure to block or the hose from intake to VC if you do use one

It does settle down to around 5 after driving for a bit on the highway, but then lives 3-7 a bit. Then when I get on it it'll be at 7 for like 1-2 sec then 0 to 7-5-3.

I went ahead and got a cheap boost tester. I figure one can never have enough tools. I'll test this weekend. I've sent my logs to Justin. We'll see what he says. I attached a small little log if anybody wants to see as well.

Really just follow the process as above. Base maps are just to get it running. 3rd map and 4th are fun tho.
Thanks man! I was mainly worried about it because Justin said I should expect 14-17 PSI with the base map.

Ok Justin told me to adjust the preload on the wastegate. I guess my logs looked Ok to him. Is this a common thing? I didn't mess with it and I assume its set at the factory to be 14-17 psi.

14-17 is a large range... It's not unheard of to have to adjust spring pressure on turbos while tuning. I don't know what CS tolerance is for setting their springs, if Justin @ freektune is reccomending you try it definitely worth following his advice

Yeah I guess its worth a shot just wondering if other people have had to do it? Kind of wish the install manual told me to double check it ha. Hopefully, its not too hard to get to on the car because pulling the turbo was kind of a pain.

I’m basically in same situation, does yours drinkin oil fast?
The k04 did, cst 4 is not. I did a boost leak test and I could hear the turbo dumping pressure back into the intake once I got up to 10 psi. I’m positive I just need to adjust the preload, but it’s been so freaking cold haha.

Just a quick update. I adjusted preload one full turn and my boost is at 13.4 PSI now. Took off the intercooler to see what is going on a bit. I broke loose the bolt to the left of the long one, put a mark on the long one and turned it towards the front of the car until the mark was back on top again. The side where it hooks into the actual waste gate is under the heat shield / exhaust manifold so I couldn't access that side.

I hope that is correct. I am going to adjust it one more time and hopefully I'll be in up in the 14-17 psi range Justin wants to see.

Even more fun I noticed my oil filter housing gasket is leaking oil. I see these go out on the Gen Wons all the time I guess Gen Pu's fail as well eventually. I'm at a 170k miles so bound to happen.

Yep slowly, but surely haha. I'm actually gen pu haha 2012. I did a little research and couldn't find people with gen pu's that leaked, but like I said car is getting old. Seems to really only happen when its cold outside, but its leaking nice little drips on my drive way overnight.

Just wanted to update this thread replacing the gaskets on the oil cooler and filter housing fixed my leak.
