Hello Everyone!

So I'm a bit board at work and decided to get some opinions from the community on some new wheels I've been looking at.

I've narrowed my choices of wheels down to a select few. All of which are 18 inches, in a black finish and they all pretty much look the same, lol.

So what would YOU run on your Silver GenPu???

Enkei Raijin Flat Black
18x8 +48 offset

Motegi MR138 Satin Black
18x8 +38 offset

Motegi MR127 Satin Black
18x8 +38 offset

XXR 527 Flat Black or Chromium Black
18x8 +42 offset

XXR 530 Flat Black or Chromium Black
18x7.5 +38 offset

I know a +38 offset is moderately aggressive for these cars but I do believe they will fit fine without much fuss. I'm currently on stock suspension and I'll be running my current 225/40/18 tires until they ware out so, correct me if I'm wrong but, I don't think I'll have rubbing issues with that set up.

I will be getting some Swift spring soon and I'll also be upgrading to 235/40/18 tires once the time come to replace. So a fender roll is certainly in my future.

So yeah, which of the 5 wheels listed would you choose? If you like none, what would you rather run on a silver GenPu????

I run 235/40/18 on 18x8.5 +42 on my pu. they don't rub on my stock suspension. No fender rolling. Since your wheels are 8" and you're staying 225, you can probably get away with what you're looking at without a roll for a while. Might need one in the rear if you lower it.

Ive done auto x, tail of the dragon, small journeys with 4 other adults in the car with no rub.

As for wheels, I kinda like the motegis. I dont see those a whole lot. But I voted for other because I couldn't pick. You can find good deals on craigslist.

One last thing to consider is the bore size. We use 67.1. So make sure the wheel is at least that size.

My wheels had a larger bore so I used hubcentric rings. Some people do not use those rings if the bore is larger but I see 0 reason not to

Yeah I like the Motegis too and you don't see them around often which is a plus.

I'm definitely getting some hub rings for the wheels. I'm pretty sure all the wheels I listed have a bigger bore size than what we use. Definitely want my wheels to be hub-centric and not stud-centric.

XXR Wheels are trash. Top 2 only,

I have heard some bad thing about XXRs, llike them exploding when hitting a pothole, but I've also heard from others says that it's all hog wash and any wheel will break if you hit a curb or whatever hard enough. It seems like a lot of people to run them without any issues though. Not sure what to think.

Why do you think they're trash? I may be with you and just not chance it.

Are you having rubbing issues? You must of had to roll the rear fenders to make the 18x8.75 +33 wheels work. I've also read that XXR 530 are a bit wider than advertised so it's more of a 18x9 or something like that.
 
Lots of people have had XXR failures, more so than on real ones

I'm going to heir on the side of caution here and stay away from XXR. Way too many people have had bad things to say about them. Although I don't plan on doing any auto x events or tracking the car in anyway, I do lots of spirited driving through canyon roads. It would really suck to have a failure and then slide off a cliff into the abyss, lol. So it's down to Enkie or Motegi.
 
Konig has a flow formed line that uses the same processs as some enkis like rpf1. Those are worth looking at.

Sparco wheels are made by OZ I think, but they do gravity casting. Idk what the enkis you linked and the motegis are.

According to Tire Rack the Enkie's are "1pc. Tilt Cast w/Flow Forming" and the Motegi's are "1pc. Low Pressure Cast". Not sure which one is better though. As for the Konig's, which ones would you recommend? I like the Oversteer Konig's in black. Pretty good price too.
 
No fender rolling or any modifications on stock suspension. Roads where I live are fine and they only take straight line abuse but since you want to do spirited canyon runs and push them laterally where the risk is higher, I'd suggest you get something proven for peace of mind.

Thanks for the info, man. Now I'm confident that I won't need to roll my fenders until I change out the suspension. And you're right, since I will be pushing them laterally, I will be going with a different wheel.
 
Flow formed is typically better than low pressure, each are typically better than regular gravity cast

The oversteers are not part of the flow formed line. Idk what method they use. But I agree they look cool.

Woah, there some good looking wheels here! Thanks for letting me know about this line of wheels. I freaking love the Rennform's.
They're similarly priced to the Enkei's and a bit lighter too!!! I think we have a new contender here!

They come in 18x8 in either a +35 or +45 offset. Would I be able to run the +35's without rolling the fenders right away? I know if I get the +45's I can run my current JBR 5mm wheel spacers to get them to +40 and still not have to roll the fenders.

When I had my gen2 I ran SBC RPF1s. 17x9 + 45.

Ampliform hypergram and dekagram have 18x8.5 +45 if you like those styles. Those should look pretty flush, and it should never rub.

Vash posted a wheel fitment thread on here somewhere you can try to look through

If Anthony got 18x8.75 +33 to work then 18x8 +35 should fit I would think. Pretty sure a narrower wheel on the same offset is pulled in closer.

For me it's between the Rennform and the Dekagram. Both wheels look awesome but I think I'll still give the edge to the Rennform's because they look a little more rally style, which I love. Although having a 8.5 wide wheel would give me more room for wider tires as well... hmmmm...

I saw the thread you're talking about and saw lots of great options and lots of good info. I plan on adding to the thread once I get the wheels mounted. Also, I do believe you're right about a narrower wheel would be more sunken in compared to a wider wheel with the same offset.

18x8.5 +35, 265/35 tires. Mild fender roll.

Damn that looks good. And you're running some meaty tires too. I'm only going to go as wide as 235, maybe 245. I should be good to go. Thanks!
