Hi all! I wanted to share my experience as it was fairly rare and I found a fix that worked.
I bought a new to me 2007 Mazdaspeed3 with approximately 170K miles in August. It was a 1 owner, completely stock car (unicorn, I know).
When I bought it, it was having some misfires. I assumed this was related to the spark plugs, so I bought new ones and went on my way. Everything seemed fine.
As the weather got colder, the fuel would randomly cut out and cause misfires until the engine was warmed up. However, when fully warmed up, I would still get some fuel cuts at greater than 1/2 throttle and higher in the rev rage (>5k RPM). Occasionally I would get a CEL and when I checked it out, it would be P0300 (random misfires) and P0192 (fuel pressure sensor input low). I checked the gaps on my spark plugs and all checked out OK. I cleaned the HPFP, made sure all my hoses were tight, but still had the issue.
Thankfully, this thread (https://mazdaspeeds.org/index.php?threads/p0192-code-fuel-pressure-dropping-to-zero.13872/) was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction. I replaced the sensor last night and immediately felt a difference. On my drive this morning, the temperature was in the 30's and the car had zero issues after sitting outside overnight.
A note on the sensor, use this part: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/BCH-0261545053. You want the Bosch sensor ending in 5053. The original part ends in 006, and the housing is a little bigger, but this fit perfectly.
Mazda says you need to replace the fuel rail as well, but I didn't and haven't had any issues. You will need a deep well 27 mm socket to remove it, but you won't need to remove anything to get to it. There was no torque spec that I could find, but I torqued it to 20 ft-lbs and haven't had any leaks. I hope this helps!
