Speedie6's MS6 upgrade

Kosmic’s Mazda specialist had a death in the family and that added more delays. I am told that they plan to do the downpipe fabrication next week which is the last thing to do. So probably get it back week after Thanksgiving
 
Kozmic reports that the downpipe is done construction and headed to ceramic coating. They have not finished installing the fuel system. They had previously told me that they would do the downpipe last but due to their scheduling issue because of their Mazda specialist’s personal issue, they did the downpipe first and will then do the fuel system. I hope this week but no ETA as yet.
 
A very slow project. They said that Speed Performance included fittings and enough hose for an MS3, not MS6. So, they had to get the right fittings. They said that they had to redo some of my intercooler piping as the PT turbo had a different location. They had to order a 4 bar sensor as I had a 3 bar before and not sufficient anymore. And a few more misc issues. But, they said that they should be ready to fire it up today. So, finally going to be getting it back soon.
 
So, FINALLY, they said they got the car started up. But, that had some more issues to get there. It seems my old HPFP had internal scaring and would not build pressure. I got the HPFP internals years ago from a company that now has a bad reputation, DamnFastDD, formerly known as PT-Performance. At the time I got it, it was before they developed their reputation and at the time it was one of the first few pump upgrades available. Now of course I know of their issues so I’m not surprised it failed. So, anyway, Kozmic put a pump they had in the shop on the car to test and were able to start the car. They said the internals they recommend are from Autotech and it is on order. I don’t know when they will arrive. Maybe not this week due to Christmas. So, probably next week the car will finally be ready to be picked up.
 
So, my damn car has been at Kozmic Motorsports for literally over 2 months. They received the Autotech internals and rebuilt my fuel pump. They say that now there is an electrical issue. The readings from the fuel pressure rail sensor is intermittent, but the sensor itself is good. And they said that if they wiggle the harness, the reading comes in and out. So, ONE MORE issue. The dollar signs have been spinning like a slot machine...
 
I still don't have my car back, going on 3 months now. But, it is finally nearing completion. The shop says they have the engine running and almost ready to go. They finally sent me at least a picture. I have the Corksport 4" intake and it seems like it fits fine even though they said there can be fitment issues on the 6.. They said there is one minor thing left to do, and that is, I have an aftermarket radiator that is thicker than the stock radiator. If you have that radiator, and the JMF intake manifold, the stock coolant overflow doesn't fit. So, they will put in a generic overflow tank and relocate it. You may notice I relocated the battery. Before I relocated it, I bought a HTP group 51 battery tray. I should have relocated the battery to begin with. So, that HTP tray does nothing but a mounting place for a positive terminal block. I think the group 51 battery would still fit, so that would still be one option with the 4" intake. But I think it even better to put it in the trunk.

So, finally, ready to pick up today! I am taking it immediately to a body shop for some minor repairs. Should only be a couple of days.
That's awesome man, congrats on the good news.
I'm curious how they wired up your PI fuel kit. I have their same 8th port kit for my MS6. For months I've had 4 injectors sitting in my CS intake manifold waiting for wiring and fuel lines to the aux fuel pump/Radium tank in the trunk. Just need to find time.
 
Did they use audio/subwoofer wire for that battery distribution block?

Actually, I did the battery relocate. And yes, I used car audio 0 gauge copper wire to run to the trunk. There is a fuse block in the back. The distribution block is designed for car audio, yes. As far as the wires going forward, they are mainly the stock wires that would connect to the positive battery terminal. But, I added a second 4 gauge red wire to the starter. Sort-of a “big 3 upgrade”, if you have heard the term.
 
I understand what you did. Just watch that audio cable, not all of them like long term load/heat.

I did that once, and the car almost caught on fire from the cable jacket splitting in multiple spots due to heat.

Thanks for the heads up. I think it is okay. And I do have a fuse in the back in case it does short. But thanks for the heads up, I will check the cable periodically.
