what in the world is that
That sir, is the remains of a friction washer failure lol I am going to try and pull the head off tonight if possible. I just got an engine stand so I will put that together and get to pulling the head off. From looking into the exhaust and intake ports the valves didn't appear hurt but can't obviously see everything to know yet. I'll have an update soon enough though

-------- MAJOR UPDATE --------

Pulled the head off and need to know whether the valves should be 100% seated right now or not. Here is what they are looking like though. I'm feeling like they should be and aren't lol Pistons seem to have a bit of markings possibly but not sure if it is valve relief or hit marks on the one side of the pistons. One side is valve relief but I'm thinking the other side isn't. :/

Yeah that's what I was realizing last night. It is what it is and I can only be glad it wasn't worse. I'm going to contact my builder to see what he thinks about it all and if the pistons need replaced

Highly unlikely the pistons need to be replaced unless they are actually cracked or broken. The valves on the other hand will need to be replaced in nearly all circumstances.

So I cleaned up the piston tops and took some more pics of them. Also, I spoke with my engine builder who says the valves are all definitely bent and pretty good at that. He says if the valve guides are broken I should get a new head most likely as it would be expensive to fix that and sometimes they can come loose once replaced.

And replace all of the valves don't take a chance on one or two that look ok
Yeah just happens that my head has +1mm manley valves (all bent now obviously lol) so I can't just use regular valves. I think I have priced some around $350 so if that's it I will consider myself lucky pretty much.

********** Let me know if someone knows where to get +1mm valves for a good price!!!!!! ***********

Alright guys I need help deciding. Is the Clutch Masters cm725 worth the extra $500 compared to running an ACT 6 puck? I just don't want to hate driving my speed 6 even in traffic and want to be able to enjoy it everywhere no matter what. Also, don't want to deal with a snapped clutch arm either. Give me your votes and help me decide as I am buying one in a couple days along with a bunch of other goods

The CM, being a twin disc, will be much more comfortable as compared to the 6 puck. Engagement shouldn’t be as grabby with the CM and the pedal feel shouldn’t be too much worse, but I haven’t asked anyone about the pedal feel because it’s not something I’m personally concerned about.

Keep in mind that if you’re daily driving, the twin disc life will more than likely be similar to the 6 puck if I’m not mistaken. I personally plan on keeping the 6 a weekend car, so life isn’t an issue for me. Just another thing to keep in mind when you’re buying.

I'm not too concerned on the life of it as I probably wont put more than another 50k miles on my car tbh. I guess I have to choose between heavier clutch feel and maybe more grabby or $500 more and have a more comfortable clutch basically. Lol

WELL..... $2,600 spent and probably another $2,600 to go before getting everything I want to finish my car up.

Waiting to find out if I need a new head or just a new set of valves. I hoping to use the same head as it is ported and would have bigger valves. The goods I have bought thus far go like this..

EDGE AUTOSPORT
- Clutchmasters cm725 street
- CPE x-flex rear diff mount
- DM trans mount
- Stainless braided clutch line
- Timing components
- New crank pulley

And whatever else I'm forgetting lol
I also ordered a complete engine gasket set from Advance Auto that is Felpro. That's what my builder says he uses and used last time on my build. Seemed to do well so I will stick with it again this time around.

Time to start cleaning my engine bay so if anyone has suggestions whether it is what degreaser is best or a method not to hurt my wiring, I am all ears! I really want to clean my engine bay up this time around.

To degrease, take a bottle of windex and a bottle of cheap vinyl protectant. spray the vinyl protectant and let it soak in. Use brushes (a good selection of cheap paint brushes and toothbrushes. Rinse with garden hose, repeat with windex. Alternate till clean.

Thanks for the tip, I will be cleaning it before long! :)

Keep showing pics like that and Ill keep drooling!!! I dont need dual, but if I did I like that!!
I'll do my best lol Just money right!?!? I got a booklet thing with this clutch and it tells clutch master's power ratings that you can't seem to find online ( or at least I couldn't). They say this clutch is supposedly able to handle 1200hp! Doubt it but that's some crazy numbers..
