So I still haven't decided on my heat shielding solution yet for the exhaust manifold. I used the adhesive heat shielding all over my TMIC and shroud setup as well as all of the area under the scoop that does not have any sort of heat shielding at all. That stuff really lays down nicely and is really easy to get a quality finish with it. I'm not sure that it'll do anything, but I think for sure getting it on the parts of the TMIC that are right next to my exhaust manifold cannot hurt.
I finally got the car all back together today. It looks so nice and clean again. The paint definitely isn't perfect, but for what I paid, it's really a good job. The painter ended up not using the Black Mica I provided because of some issues with it not working like he expected it to, so he ended up just doing a gloss black, which still looks fantastic. Without further ado, here are some pics:
Foglight housings and the badges:
More foglight housings. The rings are color matched to the car now:
A shot of the shiny smile with my grubby fingerprints all over it:
After assembling all of the front bumper pieces:
The one place the painter actually used the Black Mica was in the housing around the front emblem and I honestly really like the contrast with the glossy black badge:
Some sun shots. The bumper looks way off on the driver's side, but that's just the light:
Big smiley pic:
Showing off the new gloss black stuff:
Booty. The painter didn't do a great job with the line here, but it's about as good as my plastidip line was before. The gloss really looks so nice on the rear.
All in all, for $1300 I cannot be happier. The whole front of the car was just peppered with rock chips before to the point that I wouldn't even bother wiping it down after washes and stuff, so to finally have it all nice and shiny again is amazing. I'll need to do some buffing on adjacent panels to try to get the clear somewhere near these super shiny pieces that they're now next to, so that'll be my next project.
I also got the rear Mazdaspeed 3 badge done in the same black, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna put it back on yet. I think I kind of like the look of it with just the Mazda M, but I have it just in case I decide I want to put it back on.
