Throne for the Queen - Enclosed Trailer Build

Before I started working a fuckillion back to back days at work, we did get the tire rack and fold down bed frame built and installed.

The tire rack is height adjustable via etrack, and can hold 4 335's. I really despise having tire racks on the sides of the trailer, so we opted to put it at the back, above the beaver tail. In its lowest position, I almost clear it (lol). I need to add some rollbar-esque padding to the beams.

The bed is just comprised of 3 2x4's located on stud holders via more etrack. The beams will have a place in front of the tirerack so they're both out of the way, and so they can act as a barrier to prevent the tires from sliding forward during travel. The ply is held on with 3 strap hinges, each.

We tried it out a few weeks ago on a camping trip and it all worked great.

Back at it with the next chapter - shower and sink install. This one is just starting out and will take a few days of work to frame it all out and plumb everything. The shower pan is 32"x32", and is in the front left of the trailer. I welded together an aluminum frame for the adjoining wall (early pic attached). To the right of the wall will be 2 fresh water tanks to hold 76 gallons of fresh water.

I'll also be framing in some cabinets above the tanks, but more on that later. Gray water tanks are going in-between the floor joists under the trailer floor. Goal is to have it mostly framed, paneled, and plumbed this week.

True story. My parents have a class a motor home which they use to go to Florida in the winter. A couple times a year my family will go with them camping so there are seven of us in this camper. It's a little crowded but quality time so who cares.

Anyway I wake up early one morNing with a need to shit. So I quietly sneak into the bathroom and start shitting. It's a lot so I decide to flush since it's a low power camper toilet. Well leaning over popped the cork on the holy hell of a smell I had produced and I tried to fight it but after a few moments I knew I had no choice but to spin around and put my face into the toilet and puke my brains out. I finish puking then finish shitting and brush my teeth and get out of there.

Why do I share this story? Because I turned on the fan before I started and no one else in the camper had the slightest idea of how terrible the smell was so put in a fan.

Side note that was only the second smelliest shit I have ever taken but thats enough poo story for a build thread
 
Some day I also want to do a build thread on my piece of shit trailer that's been sitting rusting away.
 
Making some good progress on the bathroom and AC install. Walls are up, and it seems they'll hold the freshwater tanks just fine.

I welded supports for the AC onto the tongue, and have it mostly together. My next big project is the 120V electrical but may wire up a plug to the ac unit to test it out before then (and so we can work in a cool trailer :) )

Gray water tanks still need hung and plumbed, then cabinet/sink under the indoor AC unit.

So much progress since I saw it last, god damn guys, chill.
 
Slight detour.

The 1500 was great with the previous 24' trailer. 9.5-10.5mpg and no real issues with sway with a good weight distribution hitch.

With the 28 footer, not so much. Mileage was pretty much the same if I wasn't driving directly into the wind, but DAMN it's so much worse in cross winds. Lots of sway. I had planned on getting a bigger truck when I bought the trailer, so this is it. 2021 Ram 2500 Limited with the Cummins.

Hopefully get a chance to test it out next month once the car is back together.

AC works! And most of the 120V system is installed. I'm doing 5 120V outlets - 1 on the front wall, and 2 on each side of the side walls. All 20A circuitry in case I need to hook up some high draw stuff while we're out.

We've also made decent progress on the plumbing and front cabinet area. There will be a sink and 2 burner range in the countertop. We'll install some drawers, but it's mostly hiding the water pump and breaker box.

one step closer to having that free time we talked about
 
Got the water heater box brackets welded and mounted. The box is a sealed electrical housing that we are repurposing, and it will house a propane fired instant water heater for the shower and sink. The lines are plumbed to disconnects on the front of the trailer, so this should be ready for testing soon.


Also, Johanna made a cover for the AC. There's been reports of fan bearings going out due to them overspinning while traveling. Elastic drawstring at the bottom to keep it on.
