Transfer case

i am having the transfer case removed, resealed due to multiple leaks and while it is out put new bearing caps in. Does it make sense to replace the bearings while it is out? No noise is made that i can notice. Case has 100k miles on it. How much should bearing replace be? Thanks for any advice.

It requires several special service tools to tear the pto down to replace the bearings. The labor time for the overhaul is listed at 10.5 hours in addition to the 5.9 hours to remove and re-install it in the car.

Unless you have obvious issues present when the case is opened up, I wouldn't touch the actual bearings.

Although I agree with @Ssinstaller, if you are curious as to how to rebuild the transfer case I have attached the Trans and PTO Service Manual. Pages 15 to 46 go step by step on how to disassemble and completely rebuild the transfer case. The manual is incredibly informative and may also help you if you plan to replace the seals yourself.
