Did a thing yesterday.

Switched transmission fluid from redline mtl to torco rtf. Nice improvement to shifter feel.

Oil change and emptied OCC for the first time. Some nice black fluid draining from it. Also put some stickers on my IC hot pipe - gained 5 hp!

Had another coolant bypass cap rupture. Love covering my entire engine bay in coolant. Hoping to install a permanent fix Friday and clean my engine bay for the third time.

Did your lugs stay on at least?

crapatalk it sucks for free

Y'all drive a lot. My 2010 is at 72k. Long commutes? Thought of getting a beater that gets high MPG for commuting?

I'm approaching 73k on my 2012. I drive about 1 hour each way to work.

I just drive my Speed3 a lot. It has been on a number of road trips as well. I think it is a lot of fun to take on road trips. Other drivers underestimate its capabilities on the open road LOL. It has been very reliable for me as well. I've thought about replacing it with a Mazda6, but I don't think I am willing to lose passing power for much better MPG. I'd rather have both if possible.

A beater that gets high MPG won't be as fun a drive as the Speed3 on my commutes.

I agree totally, I've driven mine on lots of road trips as well, and love it in the open road. If I had to replace it right now I'm not sure what I would buy. The focus RS is tempting, but it's interior is garbage, and you still can't buy one for a reasonable price. I think if I suddenly had to buy something because of an accident or other loss, I'd look at the Golf R. All wheel drive, decent power, and the VW Audi interior and amenities just can't be beat. Plus VW is seriously willing to deal right now.

Yeah if for some reason I had to replace my Speed3, I'd get the Golf R if I can afford it (since I think it will be a great comfy daily driver) or the 2018 WRX. Still hoping Mazda would wake up and put out a new Mazdaspeed model though.

A new Mazdaspeed would be great, but I think the Golf R is the closest thing to what I would want that you can actually buy right now. In my opinion, the new WRX still suffers from a pretty bad interior, and questionable build quality. My wife has a MK7 GTI and it's super nice, that helps me lean toward the R.

Closest thing is an rs. I'd sooner buy a type r before golf r. Brother had 2015 wrx needed a new short block then long block at 30k unmodified miles.

Good luck, the dealer mark up on the Type R makes Ford dealerships look honest.

Yeah I saw that, pretty crazy. Plus i definitely spoke for you saying what is closer to what you want. Guess I can read peoples minds now.
