What did you do to your ride today

First post on this board apparently.

Finally did something after year or two of nothing! Lots last weekend actually. Bought a house in July so no more working on my apartment garage roof, power at hand and not having to worry about buttoning everything up all the time!

FInally got around to installing fuel pump internals - other than not finding a deep socket "deep" enough to tap on the tappet wasn't a terrible install in the end. Verified everything started up and while I do not have access to a AP yet I do have access to a Snap-On Modis which was able to tell the pressure on the pump was good to go.
Had been having a persistent random misfire on cylinder 2 and at 85K it was past time to clean the intake valves. They were as bad as you think they should be. Probably took longer than it should to tear down to clean but I was being cautious - also not a bad tear down/reassemble all said and done. Ended up with a P2004 - easy enough fix - especially when you had 4 bolts left over you couldn't find a home for until you pull the IC off and say "Ooops" - I blame fatigue. Now I have a P2009, I need to check the power clip - probably not snug as it should be. But the difference is amazing, like I just drove it off the lot.

Also had been experiencing some horrible vibrations, more than what should be happening even with all 3 motor mounts upgraded. Suspension is new and is good. It was also worse when turning/maneuvering right but less so when going to the left. So I bought a new driver side axle and when I pulled the old one out is was as limp as a geoduck. First fitment and test brought about some gnarly sounds and was worried maybe I didn't align something correctly. Tore it all back down, verified the axle was firmly seated in the transmission and let the axle nut pull the assembly forward instead of my hands - back in business.

Lastly a new serpentine belt - fuck these things for real.

Hopefully have enough to acquire an AP next month - or are people migrating towards VersaTuner these days?

Serpentine is 10000x easier if you get the duralast idler pulley that has a spot on it for a wrench. part 305372

Awesome, thank you for sharing that, next belt change I will get one of these too. Last time I did the belt it was balls cold and the belt was so tough it took 3 sets of hands to get the fucker on. I was able to to it solo this time around but I looked like a fool under the car pushing the tensioner back with a torque wrench with one leg, turning the engine with one hand and feeding the belt on with the other hand.

Damn, I wish I would have known about that before I bought the gates brand. I sat with a pipe wrench for about 30 minutes trying to get ahold of the stripped oem bolt. Ended up grabbing a jack and a 2x4 to push up and relieve the tension. Way easier than I though it would be

Installed my Billetworks shift knob since my stock one has over 95k miles on it and had been starting to tear. Got the light bulb style in cosmic red with the heartbeat shift pattern. It's only 200 grams, stock gen2 knob feels heavier, but I liked it on my drive into work this morning. Made 2 spacers to take up the boot gap and add a little weight back to test. One is 80 gram SS, the other 30.7 gram aluminum. Loving it so far.

Last few weekends have been fun.

Had a coworker's shop replace my stock clutch with a Luk kit from rockauto.com - clutch, pressure plate and throwout and pilot bearing. Stocker had torn and wrapped around PP fingers. All good for about a year. And all for the price of the clutch kit.

About a week before Thanksgiving shifting was becoming more difficult and definitely slipping (clutch in at a stop in 1st and pressing gas - smell that smell) but not worryingly so (so I thought). In traffic, low speed coming to a red light and I'm stuck in 3rd - pedal moves but shifter will not move. Pivot shaft swing arm had snapped, ok wtf. I said it was getting difficult - never said I was He-Man.

Motherfuck. I had been ignoring 2nd gear pop out/grind for too long - its time fix this shit.

I know very little about transmissions so lets do this.

Removal wasn't too bad but pulled my back on Thanksgiving so I was moving a little slow.

Stock Flywheel that was not replaced had a broken inner run/sleeve - this fell out as soon as flywheel was exposed.

Luk clutch it self doesn't look too bad - it shouldn't its just a year old.

After ordering and waiting for a monster 27mm hex and a helping hand with case separation I can begin to look into the mud.

Shift forks and control rods are now out and off on the bench. Appear to still be in good shape, no cuts, dings, notches or scrapes. I have brass shift pads ordered ahead thinking that was part of my 2nd gear issue. So far the pads look perfect with the exception on the 1st/2nd fork one of the stock pads is loose and can pivot ever so slightly.

I haven't removed the snap rings to inspect the gears but I do have a synchro that lost its bearings and a spring, can't recall what gear at the moment.

I'll probably finish the clutch install tonight tackle the transmission some more tomorrow - ACT HD 6puk with streetlite (so pretty for a hidden component.)

Aaand a new TIP cause 1) I wanted one 2) I accidentally snapped the plastic bung off the stocker.

I got a ported intake manifold and thermal gasket coming. Probably do injector seals, valve cleaning, and plugs and the same time. Also have a p/s cooler to put on but im feeling pretty lazy after having the front end torn down so we will see

This is what happens when you live in the country and park your car outside for a couple of weeks before getting it into garage for storage.

Bad case of the rats.
Actually squirrels and chipmunks. I’ve kicked the undertray and watched them run out. Me with my suppressed 22 and my dog have declared war on them. Since it’s garaged for the winter, I’m cleaning everything and may even attempt a valve cleaning.

Been slowly making minor creature comfort types of tweaks to the VoodooMobile that I bought from @VoodooJef in November, just making it feel a bit more like my own.

-Swapped in a CS steering wheel almost right away, since it was one of my favorite mods to my genjuan.
-Did a budget HID conversion and tossed in some new headlight housings from ebay...years of Texas sun toasted the OEM lenses pretty badly
-Installed my favorite loud-ass Hella horns to replace the wimpy stock tooter.
-Put in a new Eonon 9163 head unit and the subwoofer I had pulled from the juan before selling it to @deldran
-Swapped in my TurboSmart bov for extra boners
-Upgraded to a 3.5bar MAP
-Swapped in my CS throttle body
-Replaced some splash shields and fender liner so the undertray could be reinstalled.
-Filled up the meth tank :D

Now waiting on winter to pass so I can really go enjoy her. PI swap to replace the meth kit is also planned for this year. Maybe I should just go hijack Jef's build thread....

More accurately: "installed a 3.5 bar to replace the failed 4 bar". Don't want anyone thinking I didn't have that covered.

lol sorry, yes. to clarify for those not in tune: Jef was running a Stratified Guardian Angel v3, utilizing its built-in 4bar MAP sensor. That 4bar happened to die not long before we arranged my purchase of the car and I knowingly took possession with the GA having been bypassed and the tune adjusted to use the 3bar that was installed on the intake manifold. I have yet to get around to sending the GA in to Strat for repair, and instead picked up a 3.5bar from @alexwlwsn to replace the 3bar.
