I apologize, I wanted to get you in here, but now that you're here what the heck am I missing? Saturday morning I took to clearing deposits out of the EGR Valve and pipe; good instructions I just wish I had a pressure washer or compressed air to handle it. I may as well of been using a bendy straw to clear it. But again, since I am still getting more familiar with Mazda I took my time adjusting, unplugging, and identifying different parts and connectors.

WTH is this?? What issues can/am I going to run in to? I have plans this weekend to take a look at the other Speed 6 (for clarity I'll call it the Test Speed 6), pull this hose and route it to where I find it runs. You can see it runs near the EGR Pipe. I couldn't get the full angle to show more.

I'm also wondering is this missing vacuum line important. On the in-progress Speed 6 it's not present, it's been cut down to only two lines. With the BPV/Blow Off being set in this manner, is that why my boost is always reading in the negative on my Accessport? That may be stupid, this week I intend to see where my numbers/readings are supposed to be on the Accessport. I may as well be reading French words but not know what I'm actually saying.

I didn't do any of this, this, especially that bolt was done by the installing shop. Thoughts.
 
It's hard to tell with the pictures

What's connected to your intake and turbo inlet pipe(connects intake to turbo).

Also I had a t- connector thing on my car as well.. could be possibly a boost gauge..

Take some overhead pictures of engine bay and we can zoom in and see what is going on..


Boost should be mostly negative.. then increase when giving it gas.. if you have a stock turbo, the most boost you should see is like 17 on a basic tune.. maybe 18..

Did you do the fuel pump internals? Hpfp?

That's a great point, I had completely forgotten about the gauge since I'm normally only under the hood of the Test Speed and not inside the cab. It does have a boost gauge in the interior. I will look to get some pictures of the hose and bolt, but that answers the T and the boost gauge.

I did do the fuel pump internals. I just need to get in the book again since I think I won't be under the hood until late in the week. I know that line and bolt is not off the HPFP, and not off the intake. Off recall, do you know what other items are immediately near the EGR and Pipe. Something that would have a hose running off it?

My vote is the inlet pipe ... It connects I think to the boost control ... The connector nipple thing is super easy to snap..

So check the inlet pipe and the boost control module.. and see if it's connected..

Long shot but check the throttle body .. it should have coolant lines. Some people delete them. See if that is all set up.. I really doubt it's that .

The last picture 4 is a stock photo i pulled up. I thought there was a sensor but something in the below picture doesn't match the bottom pic 4.
what does the circled tube belong to? I don't think I have a piece to connect to. It should be where the line is in pic 3.

Got another P0401 again. Was going to remove/replace the EGR today with another one that I've been soaking and clearing out (not the additional one pictured, I have around 3-4 EGRs), but decided not to until I got more information on that hose and bolt as I may be swapping the part just before the EGR. But you can see the bolt/hose to the right. @automaticonlyspeed3

What all is pictured in the bare part aside from the EGR. The one on my car has an extra pipe, it's not leaking or anything. But I'm already removing the EGR to switch, so I'm wondering what this is called connected to the EGR considering I am going to be right there changing things.

@Raider you've removed your EGR before, do you know what this is? When I remove it, is it going to be gushing coolant?

is it going to be gushing coolant? LMAO yes thats your water outlet manifold there's a ton of coolant in there.
if it were me I'd just be swapping the EGR especially seeing the corrosion on those bungs
 
Might be for the throttle body warmer; that uses water from the water manifold and sends it to the throttle body, so if you have two plugged or open nipples on the throttle body, that's probably what its for. That hose might also go to the long black pipe bolted to the trans, which would also have the return for the throttle body, if memory serves.

There's a thread around here somewheres that has my simplified coolant map.
 
I didn't look at my other extra one on the motor in the garage. I was going to use that one, if I had to use that one I was going to sand it down and remove the rust. Felt it may work a hole in my hose otherwise.

When I get home will do some searching for Enki's coolant map. My Test Speed doesn't have this pipe nor did one of the other motors. So I'll have to do some looking. And why this particular one has it regarding a warmer.

Why would one want warm water when considering the throttle body. New to turbo cars, it's OK to explain it like I'm 5.

It's electronic, and full of grease. It's a safety measure to ensure it doesn't freeze open or whatever.
I live in the desert, and summer tires don't work when ice/snow is about, so I've bypassed it long ago.
 
That wouldn't happen until after the engine warms up though.

However, according to the EcoModder forums, hot air intakes *DO* improve MPG, so that might be a consideration
 
Appreciate you both chiming in.

I'll have to review. I'm in a cold weather state and this will be my first cold season returning. I should probably go to the garage and check to see which attachment is on the other vehicle. I guess this means certain years came equipped while others didn't. I'd know better if I knew which years these motors I have are out of, but I'll see what I can trace down so I can complete this line. If I can complete it. I've had the TB off initially for the EGR pipe removal and don't recall lines. So perhaps pieces have been mismatched on this.

The first time I was simply concerned with trying to prevent coolant loss as a whole that I was likely less focused on any coolant lines off the TB. I'll verify. I'm sure you're not wrong.

I have yet to see one without it.

it's so common to bypass it though, heck I ran mine bypassed even at -40c although I probably shouldn't have based on the cold start digging I did however engine was fine, oil got changed ran it that for for 9 or so years, only 5 of those really saw below -25c. I've got the UOA to back it up. but I do wonder if it would have helped with fuel dilution.

anyways be prepared to top up your coolant
 
I could see it being beneficial in super cold climates, as the TB loop would also help keep the intake mani warm...at least roughly above zero, at any rate. Not sure the radiator is gonna see much use in -25 or lower lol

You ever block off airflow to the rad, with cardboard or something in the winter?
